Do Trailer Lighting Circuits Need to Be Converted to Install a 7-Way on a 2003 Chevy Tahoe
Question:
I purchased the HM40975 for use with my 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe because I intend to rent a trailer with 4 flat connector. After installing it and trying to test the 4 way connector with a multimeter, I am not sure it is the right product. My Tahoe has separate turn signals and brake/running lights. Now it looks like the 4 way connector assumes brake and turn lights are the same bulb. Do you know what I need for rental trailer use?

If your 2003 Chevy Tahoe has the round connector that the # HM40975 is designed to fit you wouldn't need to worry about the turn signals being converted to separate or combined as that means your vehicle has been setup for trailer wiring and the circuits are already converted to combined.
Which is what the trailer you plan to rent will have. It will have combined turn signals just like what the # HM40975 has.
