15 inch Trailer Rim Recommendation Rated for 65 psi
Question:
I presently have a new Flagstaff VLite trailer that I purchased thinking it would come with wheels to match the D range tires that are now coming on them. This is incorrect as after receiving the trailer, the rims are rated a 2150 pounds alleged 50 psi and the tires are wanting 65 psi. My goal is to NOT carry more weight, but, to go to a tire readily available in Texas which would be Carlisle E range requiring 80 psi. Axles are still rated at 4,000 lbs. each so like I stated above I am not after more weight capacity, only a known quality tire. Two of your QandA items I found contradict each other in that John H. says the wheel is not a problem, only the valve stem and the tire attached. Next is Michael H. saying that the wheel cannot be over pressurized. My guess is since I see no psi on my factory rims from Lions Head/China, the rims are allegedly 50 psi. Using E range psi would overinflate them by 30 lbs. Can the old AL wheels be used with new stems at 80 psi? Lions Head has not answered anyones questions concerning psi rating.

Generally the limiting factor for psi on a trailer rim is the valve stem, but if the rim on your trailer does specify that it itself cannot take more than 50 psi then you would want to upgrade the rim. Typically rims can handle over 50 psi pretty easily but I can't recommend you exceed the rims capacity.
If you are looking for a 15 inch diameter rim that is 6 inches wide with a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern that can handle 65 psi easily the part # AM32545 would work well. I attached a review video for you to check out as well.
The weight capacity of this rim is 2,830 lbs.
We sell this rim on a tire part # AM32545 and it has a 2,540-lb maximum load at 65 psi capacity.
