Slider Companion Hitch Recommendation for Short Bed Truck with Turnover to Allow Turning Clearance

Question:

Hello, I have a 35foot XLR Nitro 5th. wheel toy hauler with a Lippert 1116, 19,000# pin box. I am pulling the trailer with a 2009 Ram 3500 quad cab short box single wheel truck. The 5th wheel I am using is a BandW Companion that is attached to the truck with a BandW Turnover ball. I am having clearance issues between the trailer and the truck cab. I have looked at several options that are all very expensive to alleviate this issue. I am down to trying an extended length pin box in the place of the OEM pin box that is presently on the trailer. I like the shock absorbing characteristics of the LC176440 but I cannot find a dimensional of the pin box to see if it is longer than the box I have. Mine measures about 14-1/2inch from the front mounting bolt hole to the king pin. Is yours longer? or could you send me a dimensional drawing of your pin box? Regards,

The Rota-Flex part # LC176440 would fit as a replacement on your trailer that has a Lippert 1116 on it currently. But this product has the same dimensions as your current pin box. These are designed to be basically exact replacements that are cushioned. Extending a pin box out further than what the trailer had can put added stress on the trailer's frame due to the increased leverage.

The only solution we can offer is to replace your Companion hitch with the sliding Companion part # BWRVK3400. This will give you the additional clearance you would nee to allow your truck and trailer to make tight turns. I attached a review video for this hitch for you to check out as well.
