Which Tires Should Snow Chains Be Installed On

Question:

Do you only ned chains on the pulling tires?

Expert Reply:

When using chains they should at least go on the main drive wheels of the vehicle. You can put chains on the other, non-drive wheel tires for greater traction, turning, and braking. Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual for specific information on the use of tire chains. I have included some links covering tire chains for you as well.

If you could tell me the vehicle and tire size I can make some recommendations.
