Electric Boat Trailer Winch for a 7,000 Pound 2002 Robalo R235 Boat

Question:

What is the best electric boat trailer winch to buy for a 2002 Robalo R235 boat that weighs 4,900 dry weight ? you probaly can add another 2,000 lbs for motor gas and gear. Powerwinch has alot of bad reviews I have seen.

We have a great electric trailer winch option ideal for use with marine applications such as a boat and boat trailer. Since your boat can weigh nearly 7,000 pounds when ready for a day out on the water you will need a winch that can handle that weight.

Dutton Lainson electric winch # DL25215 is rated for up to 9,000 pounds if the angle is slight, the winch distance is short, and the trailer has rollers instead of wooden bunks. The winch comes with a nylon strap so a marine environment won't affect it.

If you wanted to use a recovery winch, typically found mounted on vehicles, then I would go with # SW1595201. It is rated for 9,500 pounds and comes with a synthetic rope. But again this type of winch is designed to be mounted to a vehicle though you could mount it on a trailer if you wanted to. I have linked a couple of help articles on electric winches for you.
