Does Exhaust Heat Shield Need To Be Removed When Installing 5th Wheel On 2015 GMC Sierra 3500
Question:
I am looking at a curt 5th wheel hitch C16245 and C16413-204. On the install do you have to move or work around the exhaust heat shield?

As the attached video shows at about the 8:25 mark, when installing the Curt Custom Installation Kit, part # C16411-204, the heat shield is pushed out of the way when installing the front rail.
When installing the rear bracket, the heat shield is again pushed out of the way at about the 11:40 mark on the video.
The Curt Fifth Wheel Hitch, part # C16245 features a 2-jaw locking system and has a towing capacity of 24,000 lbs.
