Adding a 4- and 7-Way Connector to a 2009 Pontiac Montana with 4-Way Trailer Connector
Question:
Hi, The vehicle has a 4 pin connector Pontiac Montana 2009 van and the new camp trailer has a 7 pin connector. The new trailer has the electric brake option I will not use at this time. No brake controller on the van. I also have a smaller trailer I will still use that has the 4 pin so I want to keep the 4 pin capability. Do you have an adapter to do this.

To add a 7-Way trailer connector to your 2009 Pontiac Montana with a 4-Way you will need # 37185. Your 4-Way will plug into this adapter's mating 4-Way. You will need to ground the white wire to the van frame. This adapter has both a 4- and 7-Way connector so you will retain the use of the 4-Way.
The remaining wires on the adapter are blue for electric brakes, purple for reverse lights, and black for 12 volt power. You already mentioned not using the trailer brakes so the blue wire can be stowed out of the way.
If the trailer has the need for reverse lights the purple wire would tap into a reverse light wire. And if the trailer requires 12 volt power then the black wire will have to be connected to the vehicle battery via a 40 amp circuit breaker # PK54540. You will also need about 20 feet of wire # 12-1-1 which is sold by the foot.
