Compatible 5th Wheel Hitches and Base Rail Installation Kits for 2015 Ford F-150 with 6-1/2-Ft Bed
Question:
i am considering purchasing a Curt q20 1613, and 16442 brackets, 16204 rails. Is that the proper install for 2015 f150? I have a sidewinder pin box and a 6 1/2 box. Thanks.

Expert Reply:
Some Curt 5th wheel hitches cannot be used with a Sidewinder replacement pin box. Because the Q-Series have cushioned heads they can prevent proper operation of a Sidewinder. For a fixed 5th wheel hitch of the same 20K capacity as the Curt Q20 you can use the cost-effective Reese # RP30928. This will work with your Sidewinder when used with Wedge # RP44FR.
For an industry-standard above-bed base rail installation kit for your 2015 Ford F-150 with 6-1/2-foot bed you can use Reese custom kit # RP50087-58. This will minimize drilling and provide industry-standard 5th wheel base rails that will accept most hitches from makers such as Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley and Husky. You also can use instead the Curt install kit parts you referenced.
