Hardwire Powered Trailer Wiring Harness for a Ford Ranger
Question:
My old Ranger has 2wire connection points for a trailer connector, but the voltage is low ~9V. I want to use a powered circuit protector kit to bring that to 12V. Can I use this converter with my existing 2-wire connections, or would I need to use the HD version 119190KIT? Can I just ground the brake line input signal and have it work correctly?

You could use Curt wiring harness # C59236 on a vehicle that has a combined wiring system.
The Tekonsha kit, # 119250KIT, is another option. But really you could go with a more basic harness, # C59496, with success.
With this harness you would ground the red brake light wire with the white ground wire. Brown would be for running lights, yellow for left turn and brake lights, and green for right turn and brake lights. It comes with the extra wire to attach the power wire to the truck battery, circuit tester, connectors, fuse holder, and fuse.
