I have included a link to the help article on installing an aftermarket brake controller on a 2013 GMC Sierra that has a factory integrated controller. Basically, you will wire up the brake controller white, black, and red wires as indicated in the linked article. The blue wire though will need to be ran manually from the brake controller to the back of the 7-Way trailer connector and attached in the 7 o'clock position.
For wire you can use # 12-1-1. It is sold in increments of 1 foot so if you wanted 20 feet you would put 20 in the quantity box. When routing wire under the vehicle you can use zip ties to hold it to the frame or another harness. Be careful to avoid areas that could pinch or burn the wire such as suspension or exhaust components.
