Does the Stated Capacity of Trailer Jack Part # F1413040134 Represent the Trailer Tongue Weight

Question:

Is the 1600 lbs weight limit on the Fulton F1413040134 for the tongue or the whole trailer?

The Fulton 1600 lb Jack is rated for a 1600 lb static load. This means that the jack can safely lift 1600 lbs on a stationary trailer straight up. If the tongue weight of the trailer is exactly 1600 lbs and the trailer has a wheel on it and you should hit a small obstruction with the jack wheel while moving the trailer, the jack will probably bend. In other words when choosing a jack, you will want to go with a jack whose capacity is higher than the tongue weight of the trailer.

So to clarify - I've a 10K ( GVWR rating) trailer which I normally load to about 8K (6K cargo plus 2K trailer weight) and have a tongue weight up to 1200 lbs. I would like to be able to move the trailer around when it is in the garage which has a concrete floor. Will this probably suffice?

@GeorgeN The Fulton # F1413040134 would work great for the trailer you described, the caster would work great on a concrete floor!
