Drop Shank Recommendation for a Curt Weight Distribution So Trailer Can Be Towed Level

Question:

I purchased a Curt C17500 weight distribution hitch and installed this afternoon. I have a 2013 F250 and 31foot Puma travel trailer. I didnt have but 1.5inch of in rear bumper when hooked up without the hitch but had terrible sway or fishtail. I have the hitch head set in the bottom hole with one notch of angle in head. Hooked up to pull, the bumper measurements are exactly the same as empty. The problem is that my trailer is approximately 1inch higher in front. I have not pulled the trailer with hitch but wondering if this is acceptable. Seems Ive always had better luck when trailers were level or lower in front.

Ideally you want to have your trailer towed as level as possible. Your absolute best option would be to replace the shank that came with the # C17500 that you have with the part # 17120 as it will allow you to do that additional drop which will allow your trailer to sit level. Having a trailer sit 1 inch nose high is almost perfect, but you would want to get it perfectly level if you can.
