Functions Of Air Suspension System On Vehicle
Question:
With the air bags installed does the suspension still retain its full drupe without fear up ripping the bag with one bolt holding it together. . When put the vehicle on car hoist there is no problem? When the air bag is pressured up it just hold them up higher? That would also mean traveling down the road it would stiffen up the ride side to side?

Expert Reply:
The Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs, part # F2071 is designed to help your vehicle when it is carrying heavy loads.
This system installs between your suspension and the vehicle frame and will not increase the load-carrying capacity of your vehicle. It is designed to help reduce the strain on your suspension and can be adjusted manually to help even out off-center loads. If properly installed, you will not damage the air bags.
Since it is installed with both upper and lower brackets you will have no problem placing the vehicle on a hoist. This system is designed to reduce sagging suspension and keep the vehicle from bottoming out.
