Question:
I have the plug in reverse light. How do I hook up the purple wire on my 2011 Ford Ranger?

Expert Reply:
The purple wire of the Adapter part # 37185 that you referenced is the reverse light circuit and would need to get run to the reverse light circuit of your 2011 Ford Ranger.
You will need to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test all of the wires running to the taillights of your vehicle until you find the one that carries 12 volts when the vehicle is in reverse. There should only be two wires run to the reverse light socket so it should be easy to determine which one to use.
You would want to use a quick splice like the part # SWC501746-1 to tap into this circuit.
