Are Straps Required for Carrying Kayaks with Rhino-Rack J-Style Kayak Carrier
Question:
Why do some of the pictures show the kayak tied down in the front and back while others dont? I cant seem to find hitching points on my 2008 Ford Escape. I have seen others carrying kayaks without them tied down front and back but wasnt sure how safe that is.

To carry kayaks with the Rhino-Rack J-Style Kayak Carrier # S510 you will need to strap down the kayaks front and back. We took several pictures of this rack with kayaks loaded on it and not all of them show the kayaks secured and ready for transport.
A lot of people use the Hood Loops for securing the front of the kayak or for back and front like part # MPG308. Simply close them under the vehicle's hood or trunk.
