What is the Best Trailer Brake Controller
Question:
Good Morning! We recently purchased a travel trailer Forest River Grey Wolf 23DBH, weighing in between 5,500-6,000 lbs, two axles. I am pulling it with a 2008 Toyota Tundra 5.7L with the factory tow package. I have the 7-pin connector from the factory already installed. I would like feedback on a brake controller selection. This is my first trailer with electric brakes/brake controller, and have narrowed it to the Tekonsha brand. Ive been looking at the Prodigy P3 and P2 lines, and would appreciate any recommendation you have between the two or a different model. I would like to stay with a proportional controller. Thank You!

A proportional brake controller is definitely the way to go if you are looking for the best.
The P2 # 90885 and P3 # 90195 will operate the exact same as they have the same internals. The difference between the two is that the P2 uses more of a traditional style of display that will show codes for error messages and connection status. The P3 will use a much larger display that will show actual phrases that won't require any deciphering, has a much better diagnostic setup, allows you to select what color display you would like, and allows you to save trailer presets if you like.
I would go with the P3 for the reasons I just listed. Check out the review video I attached for both though.
All you would need to install this controller in your 2008 Tundra is the correct harness, part # 3040-P.
I attached several helpful links for you to check out as well.
