For your 2016 Audi A3 I recommend Curt trailer hitch # C11399. This is a Class I trailer hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver rated for 200 pounds tongue weight and 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight. Be sure to check the owner's manual for the towing capacities of your vehicle and go by the lower rating.

The recommended ball moutnt is # C45520 and for the pin and clip use # F-4. For a 1-7/8 inch ball I recommend # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball I recommend # 19258. And for trailer wiring I recommend Tow Ready wiring harness # 119250KIT to add a 4-Way flat connector to the rear of the vehicle.

If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier then you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use with a Class I trailer hitch. Also, with a bike rack, you are limited to 2 bikes maximum on a Class I hitch.

Curt also says you have to use stabilization strap # 18050 when using this hitch for any non-trailer load (such as a bike rack or cargo carrier) per their warranty requirements. I have linked the Class I compatible 2-bike racks and cargo carriers for you.
