How to Provide a 25-40 Amp Power Source for the HydraStar Actuator HBA16
Question:
I am looking to wire up my hydrastar unit for my fifth wheel. Tow vehicle is a 2006 F350. My concern is the 12v power source. The HBA manual states that it must be a 25-40amp dedicated circuit the 12v power source from my trailer plug is only protected by a 20amp fuse on my F350. Im assuming this must be a common problem?

Here is what you will want to do. Since your 12 volt accessory circuit is only rated for 20 amps you are going to want to run a 10 gauge wire like the part # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot) from the positive battery post of your vehicle through a 40 amp circuit breaker like part # 9510 to the 12 volt accessory circuit of your truck so that you would have a circuit rated high enough for the # HBA16.

SInce I am reading the my 12 VDC circuit from my 2011 F-250 will not have enough amps - can I connect the power wire of the Hydrastar HBA16 to my trailer batteries - less than 2 feet away from the controller? I did not see anything noting this as an issue when I ordered the unit. Just say'in
