Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2008 Mercedes CLK 350 Convertible

Question:

I see your advise on How to Carry 2 Bikes on a 2008 Mercedes CLK-Class Convertible and was wondering will the top open close with bike rack on and or with 2 bikes on bike rack ? Please advise purchase pending!

The correct hitch to get for your 2008 Mercedes Benz CLK Convertible is the Curt Hitch part # C11353. When you use a hitch mounted accessory like a bike rack on this hitch you will need to use a stabilizer strap like part # 18050 for additional support. Since this will attach to the trunk lid of your vehicle like the video I attached demonstrates you will need to remove this strap everytime you open or close the top of your vehicle.

The Swagman XTC2, part # S64670 is one of the most popular racks because it's so easy to use, and because the rack has an angled shank that would raise the bike rack up by three inches providing additional ground clearance. Because of that, this is the rack I'd recommend for you. The rack includes an anti-rattle hitch bolt, but a combination anti-rattle hitch lock/cable lock is available separately as part # S64031.
