How to Install Redline Round Rubber Bumper # D3-96 on Trailer With 2-Inch Thick Material

Question:

I have an old trailer that does not have a bumper. The area where we mount the bumper as no holes and is 2inch thick. Can we still mount a bumper? If so what hardware do we need and what do we need to do to mount the bumper? Thank you for your help in advance.

Since the (presumably steel) material on your trailer is 2 inches thick drilling it for installation of the Redline Round Rubber Bumper # D3-96 is not a great option since this would require a lot of drilling time and extra-long hardware to install it.

A better option may be to use an adhesive, one that is compatible with both the rubber bumper and the trailer surface. We offer white silicone adhesive # 0160297 but most any hardware or home improvement store will carry a range of colors, including black and clear. This type of adhesive takes a long time to cure fully (24-hours) and may require you to use clamps to hold the bumper in place while the adhesive sets.

If you care to submit a photo of your trailer's rear surface I will be glad to see if I can offer additional options for you.
