Hitch Recommendation for a 2014 Ford Focus ST Hatchback
Question:
Hi. I'm looking at the C11350 hitch. I see that it fits my vehicle but I have a couple questions. What's the ground clearance after installation? I see they recommend stabilizing straps with a Bike rack. Does it come with the straps? Lastly, I have a Thule doubletrack TH990XT. Is the gray plastic release mechanism going to be an issue with the heat from the exhaust? Sorry to be long winded, thanks!

Since the Curt Hitch part # C11431 will mount underneath the center exhaust on your 2014 Ford Focus ST Hatch the ground clearance will be reduced. Since we haven't had that chance to install this hitch on a vehicle like yours we don't have an exact figure but if you check out the picture I attached you will see that the hitch will sit right under the exhaust with about an inch between the crosstube and the exhaust tips. The bottom of the hitch should be right at 3 inches underneath your exhaust.
The strap you need is sold separately, part # 18050. I attached an install video that shows how it is used.
Now your Doubletrack TH990XT will be compatible with this hitch, but the exhaust will basically be pointing at the rack. The plastic release lever should be up higher than the exhaust so at least it won't be hitting it directly.
