Why is a Class II Ball Mount Recommended for a Class I Curt Trailer Hitch on a 2014 Chevy Camaro
Question:
how to choose a ball mount says class 2 will not fit class 1 hitchs yet, you suggest to use one. WHAT is the right answer. ??? you provide a class one hitch and then provide a class 2 ball mount. mine is a class 1 A CLEAR answer to this would help further problems.

The ball mount help article also mentions that on a Class I or II hitch you have to use the ball mount indicated by the hitch manufacturer and specified in the instructions. In the instructions for Curt trailer hitch # C11373 specified ball mount is # C45521 which is a Class II ball mount.
The reason that this Class II ball mount will fit this Class I hitch is that Curt does not install a safety stop in their Class I hitches to prevent installation of Class II accessories. All other hitch manufacturers that I know of do have a stop in the receiver. And that is why the Curt Class II ball mount fits the Curt Class I hitch.
The same goes for the other Curt hitch for the 2014 Camaro, # C11222. Its correct ball mount is # C45520 which is also a Class II.
