No Running Lights After Installing Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2014 Honda CR-V
Question:
I installed a 118561 on a 2014 Honda CRV. The brake lights, turn signals, and emergency flashers all work fine. But no taillights. Is the ground wire the most likely suspect?

Expert Reply:
It could possibly be the ground wire on the wiring harness on your 2014 Honda CR-V. Make sure it is attached to a clean bare metal non-painted or coated surface. It could also be a fuse. The harness comes with a small 7.5 amp fuse and if that is not installed or is blown then that could be the problem as well.
To test to see if the harness is the problem use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993. Test the wires going into the converter box from the vehicle. When the vehicle running lights are on there should be power on the brown input wire. If there isn't then there is either a fuse issue or a problem with the vehicle wiring.
If there is power going into the converter check the output side brown wire. If there is no power on the output brown wire but there is power on the brown input wire, then there is a problem inside the converter and the harness will have to be replaced.
I have included some links that will help.
