Curt Venturer Red LED Light Only Comes On with No Trailer Connected and Stepping on Brake Pedal
Question:
I have a Toyota highlander 2011 and the dealership installed a C74VV last year on my car. Now after 6 month not using my trailer, the red light turns on only when I break with my not connecting trailer car otherwise it is off. Is it normal?what does it mean?what is the solution? Thanks a lot for your answer.

On the Curt Venturer brake controller # C74VV the LED light should glow red all the time when no trailer is connected. If the light is flashing red when you step on the brake pedal then the controller is sensing an overload or short circuit.
You mentioned that you have not towed the trailer in awhile. What usually happens is corrosion on or inside of the trailer or vehicle side connectors. Make sure the trailer and vehicle side connectors are clean and free of corrosion inside and out.
Since the problem is happening without the trailer connected then it is likely that the vehicle connector has some corrosion and cleaning it off would solve that issue. I have included some helpful links on testing and troubleshooting brake controllers for you.
