Troubleshooting Constant 12V Power on Blue Brake Output Wire with Curt Venturer Brake Controller

Purchased a Curt Venturer brake controller, the Curt C51382 wiring adapter, and the Curt C56226 T connector from etrailer. My problem is the brake line is always on in the 7-pin connector. Ive tested at the controller red wire and voltage only appears when the brake pedal is pressed, but the blue wire always has 12v on it. Controller problem or am I missing something else? Thanks

If you are reading a constant 12 volts on the blue brake output wire with the Curt Venturer Brake Controller # C74VV installed, this is indeed an indication that either the controller itself is bad or there's a short somewhere along the brake output wire on your truck (between the controller and 7-Way connector).

The first thing I recommend doing is severing the blue wire just a few inches behind the Curt Venturer and testing for power again on this wire. This will isolate the controller from any of the truck's wiring. If you still get 12V then the controller has an internal fault and needs to be replaced, which would certainly be covered under warranty.

If you don't get 12V power though then the problem is somewhere on the truck's factory trailer wiring. You can try to inspect the brake output wiring on the truck if you can access it for any pinched, exposed, or otherwise damaged areas that need to be repaired. Your best best though is likely to take it up to a local Nissan dealer to have them take a look.
