Video Transcript for Review of Lippert Fifth Wheel King Pin - Standard Replacement - LC1191191

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Lippert 1621 5th wheel pin box. Has a 15,500 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now, this pin box will serve as a direct replacement for a worn or damaged Lippert 1621 pin box that's on your 5th wheel trailer. The king pin right up front here, this is where it'll connect to any 5th wheel trailer hitch.

That is a nice, durable steel construction. You can see the whole piece is a nice, black powder coat finish to it to resist rust and corrosion. And it is a bolt-on installation. It does attach to your trailer frame with the existing hardware. It'll bolt into place along the two rows of bolt holes.

Now, one thing I do wanna mention is you do wanna make note of the bolt hole locations of your factory installed pin box cause you wanna mount this pin box in those same hole settings using that factory hardware. Now, because of the weight of this unit, it's about 99 pounds, you'll probably want a friend to help you lift it into place during installation. This part is made in the USA. And again, the weight capacity on this is 15,500 pounds. But that should do it for the review on this Lippert 1621 5th wheel pin box with the 15,500 pound gross towing weight capacity..

First time using etrailer so I wasn't sure what to expect. But they were fast, efficient and keep us updated throughout the shipment. This was a replacement part for a customer shipping their cargo on us to Nome and it had to get here on time, very pleased with the service and follow through.
Thanks
Tom

It’s gonna be perfect for white. I want to use it for.

1st time customer. Impressive support and end to end delivery of my purchase. I will use etrailer for future sourcing for my RV needs. Thank you!

by:

For those of you who, like me, may have purchased a truck with the under the bed rail system for your fifth wheel you know the positioning of the rail system is set in front of the rear axle instead of directly above the axle making the distance between the cab and trailer that much closer. This can cause a problem hooking up with your tail gate in the down position if you have a medium length pin box on your trailer. etrailer has a great chart online to help you determine what kind of pin box you have and if there is another one manufactured that will fit in the same place. This longer pin box for me was a great economical, safe solution. The Lippert 1716 long box is a direct replacement for the Lippert 1116 medium box, but is seven inches longer giving me the needed distance to hook up.

by:

Perfect fit and easy to change out. Beyyer yet the pin length os perfect.

by:

Awesome customer service!

by:

Perfect fit, went on easily! Thanks etrailer for all your assistance!!!

by:

Exact fit, easy install very happy!

by:

because of the way it was packed or miss handled by ups people the box broke /was distroyed delaying delivery of the item and slight damage to the item which i will repair as i need to complete the install.

by:

I was greatly surprised to find that the replacement hitch had been re-engineered. I was expecting to add reinforcement to the hitch before mounting it to the trailer. I had previously bent two hitches when I had to jump on the brakes when cut off by idiots on the highway. From what I seen in this hitch I believe it will now do what I need it to do!! Thank You

by:

Well, unfortunately half inch off - my bad. So, had to get someone to fix it. Once it was on, it worked great.

by:

Teresa J, was very helpful she did a great job in making sure I received the correct hitch, shipping was supper fast. The price was the best that I found on the internet. The hitch is very sturdy and heavy duty thanks for the great help.

by:

The order was good but was delivered to 3601 Highway 4 should have been delivered to 3601 CR 424. Shipping label had correct address. Please contact shipper and tell them to READ shipping label!

by:

Everyone at etrailer did excellent work to get me the right pin box for my 5th wheel they have my business from now on

by:

I was happy with the price. I should fit perfectly and go on our camper with very little problems. It arrived at our home in approximately 3 days from when I ordered. which to me seemed very fast. I was however when I found it at my house the package was torn open many different ways. i'm using it to replace the factory hitch. I would etrailer for anything RV related.

by:

I researched the product thoroughly and the price and free shipping were above the competition. The Pinbox was exactly as ordered, although the shipping container was in pieces when it arrived. The customer service agents were at the top of their game and pin point professional.

  • When or Why Do I Replace my Lippert 1621 Pin Box
Generally Pin Boxes will last the life of the trailer. Some cases where the pin box has experienced alot of chucking and bucking they can see wear. There isn't just a king pin replacement available so you want the Lippert 1621/1621HD 5th Wheel Pin Box part # LC1191191 for a standard replacement or the Trailair Rota-Flex 5th Wheel Pin Box part # LC328330 for a little upgrade. I really like the Rota-Flex unit because it makes for a much nicer ride quality. Check out the video I did on it...

  • Picking Out Lube Plate for Fifth Wheel Hitch Connected to Lippert 1621 Pin Box
Typically the size lube plate to use is recommended by the fifth wheel hitch manufacturer. Normally you want to match the size of the lube plate with about the same diameter of the hitch head's top plate. The 10 inch size is definitely the most common like the # RP83002 but for some of the Curt hitches they recommend a 12 inch plate like the part # C16722. Let me know what hitch you have and I'll see what is recommended.

  • Why is the Locking Plate # DM6025 Required for a MOR/ryde Pin Box When Using the Autoslide Hijacker
Most pin boxes, like the common Lippert 1621 # LC1191191, have a solid connection to the king pin and can be secured to the Demco Hijacker Autoslide # DM8550034 via the built-in brackets. Since the MOR/ryde pin boxes have a unique connection to the king pin the Locking Plate # DM6025 is needed so that the pin box can remain secure. This locking plate has a wedge on it so if you were to tow your trailer with a 5th wheel hitch that doesn't automatically slide (and has the same funnel size...

I suppose you could run the bolts from the inside out when installing a pin box such as # LC1191191. You will have some of the bolt sticking out further than if it were just the head of the bolt but other than that provided everything was properly tightened I don't see a problem with it.

  • How to Measure Pin Box Height for Choosing 5th Wheel Hitch on a 2013 Ford F-350
That is an excellent question and I agree that sometimes terms like this can be a bit confusing. Even though the king pin does connect to the jaws of the 5th wheel hitch, when you take your measurements it is much easier to go from the ground to the top of the 5th wheel hitch and then from the ground to the plate of the pin box (where the king pin connects to the box) which rests on the top of the 5th wheel hitch. I reached out to Heartland RV to see if they knew what the pin box height...
