A water regulator like part # A01-1122VP has a small filter that catches most of the debris you may have in the water. I have attached a photo of the regulator that shows the small screen.
After the water pressure is reduced you can use the filter like part # CAM40631 that will clean up the balance of debris like aluminum, bacteria, bad taste, cadmium, chlorine, fungus, heavy metals, hydrogen sulfide, iron, lead, mercury, mold, odor, cloudiness, and sediment. view full answer...

The manufacturer's name should be stamped somewhere on the coupler itself. The information is usually located on the top of the coupler, to the rear of the latch. The capacity of the coupler and the size ball the coupler is intended to be used with will be stamped there as well. view full answer...
Trailer Brakes are not required on most trailers under 3,000 lbs unless otherwise stated by the local authorities. This should not be an issue with safety behind your 2014 Subaru Outback, but you can add them if desired. I would just need you to pull a hub and let me know the number on the grease seal and the face of the 2 bearings in that hub. With that info I can get you the parts needed for the upgrade.
The bigger issue with a trailer this size and weight is sway caused by wind... view full answer...
I took a look at the owner's manual for your 2011 Subaru Outback and it stated for models with your 2.5 liter engine the maximum towing capacity is 2,700 lbs for a trailer with brakes, or 1,000 lbs for a trailer without brakes.
To tow you will need to start with a trailer hitch and I highly recommend the options from Draw-Tite because of how reliable they have proven to be. Assuming you do not have a Sport model you have two options for hitches, the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75673... view full answer...

Curt requires the strap to provide extra support for when the vehicle goes over rough pavement or experiences a sudden shock like hitting a pothole. Draw-Tite and Hidden Hitch feel that this isn't necessary with their hitches.
Because the strap is an extra expense, and because some vehicles just aren't well suited to using the strap, I'll usually recommend going with the Draw-Tite or Hidden Hitch models. view full answer...
You can certainly mount two Yakima FrontLoader Bike Carriers, # Y02103, to the LoadWarrior Cargo Basket, # Y07070, and load cargo in between, but you will need two of the Yakima Loadbars, # 8870042, to mount the bike racks. The FrontLoader bike racks require two crossbars to attach to and these loadbars will provide the crossbars on top of the LoadWarrior cargo basket for the bike carriers.
Since you will be loading two bikes and cargo on the LoadWarrior cargo basket, I recommend verifying... view full answer...
To properly measure the height of your hitch, with the tow vehicle parked on level ground, measure from the ground up to the top of your hitch receiver opening. I've attached an install video of the Curt # C13410 on a similar 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon, and the hitch height the installer observed was 15". This hitch is a great product that pairs perfectly with your vehicle.
To measure the distance between the height of your hitch and the ball mount, measure from the ground to the bottom... view full answer...
If you order the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75673 that fits your 2011 Subaru Outback (excluding Sport) you can very easily find an installer. While we do not have any affiliation with any installers, this is something that any mechanic will be able to do. So if you have a mechanic shop you trust you can make an appointment there. Otherwise you can simply call local mechanics and ask if they have experience with this install (which is comparatively easy for mechanics).

The video you saw on Curt's website about the dividing tongue weight with distance in feet of the carrier is referring to the weight of your receiver. So if you had the etrailer Receiver # e98847 on your 2016 Subaru Outback with a tongue weight rating of 600lbs, then Curt would recommend not exceeding 300lbs of weight including the 64lbs of the 24x60 Curt Cargo Carrier # C18152. Or a total gear capacity of 236lbs. view full answer...
You can absolutely use a ball mount longer than your current which is 5 inches long and there will not be any type of negative affect on your towing. We do have ball mounts that will work with a Class II, 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch and that have the right amount of rise for you:
- 7" Long: Draw-Tite Drawbar for 1-1/4" Hitches - 5/8" Rise, 1-1/4" Drop # 36051

According to the owner's manual for your 2018 Subaru Outback, tire chains shouldn't be used because of limited clearance to the inside of the wheels, however using Class S cable chains like # PW1042 on the front wheels only would be acceptable.
I'd also recommend using rubber adjusters like part # PW105 to ensure that the cables stay tight to the tires.

The mounting bracket included with the Yakima MegaWarrior, part # Y07080-82 can be moved so they line up with the crossbars on your Outback.
The only requirement is that the minimum crossbar spread should be 36 inches and the maximum should be 60 inches. The problem with the added extension is just what you are saying. It may inhibit being able to fully open the hatchback. You may be able to shift the basket forward to allow the hatch to open.
