I did some research, and the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C99FR does not include a mounting bracket, it is just the hitch. However, a great way to solve your problem would be a no drill solution like # C57202. This bracket will mount to your Curt Hitch using a clamp that can be tightened down using a flat blade screwdriver. Paired with an additional mounting bracket # C67UR for your actual 7-way connector should resolve this issue! About the sway bars, unfortunately your hitch is not rated... view full answer...
When installing the Curt trailer hitch part # C99FR on a vehicle like your 2020 Toyota Highlander there are a few things that get removed and returned back to the owner of the vehicle. Or in your case you might just set them aside. There's a fascia tab, some rubber plugs, and a tow loop. At the attached video at 8 minutes our installer removed a bracket that looks to hold on an inner body panel. It's not mentioned in the video but it was reattached at end of install. view full answer...
The two harnesses you are looking for to install the Curt Wiring Harness on your 2015 Toyota Highlander are located exactly where the installation instructions indicate they will be; located in the rear hatch behind the rear scuff panel on the driver side of the vehicle.
For more information on how this product installs check out the install instructions and install video I attached to the right. view full answer...
Installing a Brake Controller on your Highlander is certainly possible. As a first step, you will need to choose a brake controller. I would recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. The P2 is our best selling brake controller, and is simple to use and set up.
To install the controller, we offer a Brake Controller Installation Kit, part # ETBC7. The kit contains everything necessary to complete the installation, including wire, circuit breakers, hardware and the adapter that will... view full answer...
Yes it is. You'll need the # 7865 pigtail that has the diode in the brake stop lamp switch circuit to prevent the controller from feeding back into the vehicle wiring.
To install the Tekonsha P3 # 90195 on your 2018 Highlander, you'll also need the # ETBC7 install kit. If your Highlander doesn't already have a 4-pole trailer wiring harness, you'll need to install one using part # 118449.
I've linked to install videos for the brake controller and for the wiring harness. view full answer...
Yes, you can mount the Yakima SlimShady Roll-Out Awning # Y36VR to either the rear rail or on the sides of the basket by attaching to the bottom bars of your MegaWarrior rooftop cargo basket # Y07080. My Yakima contact confirmed no adapters or additional parts are required to get you 'made in the shade' on your next camping outing. So, in effect you have three mounting point options, driver-side, passenger-side or rear of vehicle.
Of course, the SlimShady can also mount to virtually any... view full answer...
The WeatherTech Side Window Rain Guards with Dark Tinting - Front and Rear - 4 Piece # WT82761 attach inside the window channel without having to tape the guards to the exterior of the vehicle. With that being said, I confirmed with WeatherTech that the rain guards # WT82761 will not fit on your 2020 Toyota Highlander. view full answer...
The red wire on a trailer brake controller like the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller part # RED24FR when using the Universal Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers part # RED69FR will need to be attached to the cold side of the brake pedal. In other words, it's the wire that only has power while the brakes are active. The wire will be located inside the bundle of wires that attaches to the brake pedal. It's difficult to get to and even harder to test but required... view full answer...
For your 2018 Highlander and the Redarc brake controller # RED44FR you'd need to install a diode on the red wire of the brake controller to prevent voltage from back feeding on your brake light circuit. For a diode you could then use the part # RM-690. view full answer...
The reverse lamps for the 2021 Toyota Highlander are in the liftgate, so the best bet would be to find the harness feeding the taillights and use a circuit tester like # PTW2993. Unfortunately, I don't have specifics on where the harness is located or the wire colors, but this is pretty easy to figure out. The harness typically runs behind the bulkheads in the cargo area and will usually run up to the top of the liftgate in the pillar next to it.
Once you locate the harness, the first... view full answer...
You asked a lot of great questions so I'll answer them in the order they were asked.
For a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 to install on your 2018 Toyota Highlander. This proportional brake controller will activate your trailer brakes in a proportion to your vehicle's braking action. It'll automatically adjust your trailer's braking based on the deceleration of the tow vehicle and it activates immediately so there's no pausing like... view full answer...
So you can absolutely use a weight distribution system with sway control for your boat trailer that that has a straight tongue - so long as it is not a swing-away tongue. All you need is an adapter and the ability to position the adapter 27" - 32" from the hitch ball. If so you will need the Pole-Tongue Adapter for Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Systems # EQ95-01-5950.
You will then be able to use this adapter with either a Fastway or Equal-i-zer weight distribution system. The more economical... view full answer...

For your 2016 Toyota Highlander XLE, I recommend using the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118449 to give you the basic 4 way function, then I recommend using the # ETBC7 to give you the 7-way connector along with 4-way connector and the wiring needed to complete the other functions. This will set you up for the brake controller of your choice that you will then hardwire using the included circuit breakers and wiring. I've attached a video to assist.

In order for the full size spare tire to still be able to be stowed under the vehicle, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Round Tube Receiver # 75726. Installation of this hitch will require removal of the tow hooks and, if present, the plastic appearance panels that cover the frame rails. No drilling is required to install this hitch. The hitch crosstube will prevent the tire from being lowered straight down, but if the tire is pushed toward the front of the vehicle while it's... view full answer...
We typically recommend people put their cargo boxes more to the passenger side of the vehicle so that if you had to pull over on the side of the road you wouldn't be standing on the side of the vehicle that would be near the vehicles flying past you.
At the end of the day it is your cargo box and your vehicle so wherever you want to install it will be up to you and it opens on either side. view full answer...
We do indeed have a pdf for the etrailer.com hitch # e75ZR for your 2022 Toyota Highlander and I have them linked below. We actually have an install video of this being installed on a 2022 Highlander and I included that as well.
This does come up a lot with installing hitches on the Highlander so I figured I would mention it. Spare tires that are under 18" can continue to be stored under the vehicle once a hitch is installed, but if your spare is larger than this, it will no longer fit... view full answer...
