In regards to a brake controller, vehicles with factory 7-ways do not have brake controllers integrated in them and you will need one if you have electric brakes. There may be a harness that allows you to simply plug the controller in and use it without difficulty. The brake controller connection is in the same spot as found in the Suburban or the GM full sized trucks of that generation. It's located in a junction box behind and to the right of the emergency brake pedal. You'll need to remove the cover, and plug the connector into the socket shown in the provided photo.

The runnings lights will be carried on the brake light circuit. On a 2019 Escalade, the plug you're looking for is in a junction box on the firewall to the left of the brake pedal. The junction box has a black cover, which will need to be removed and the # 3016 harness you'd looked at will plug into the socket shown in the provided photo. If your 2007 Cadillac Escalade has a factory 7 pole plug, the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 3 Axles - Proportional Item # RED44FR can be wire directly into the factory wiring located under the dash, just to the left of the steering column. The wiring may be taped up to other wiring. The wiring you are looking for will be 4 wires with taped ends. Red, Black, White, Light Blue with a White stripe.

Thanks for the purchase of the Electric Ground Control TT Automatic 5-Point Travel Trailer Leveling System # LC672136, and the answer to your question is if you do not want to use the OneControl Touch Panel you certainly don't have to. This is only compatible with trailers that have the OneControl feature installed so it does have to - and will - work with just the touchpad if that's what you'd like to use.

If your Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 has numbers scrolling on the display when it is not connected, it seems likely you have some sort of corrosion on the brake output circuit of your 2011 Escalade's 7-way. It would seem that the brake controller thinks that your trailer is still connected, which would explain the numbers.

It is normal for the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 to be on even when your 2008 Cadillac Escalade is turned off, and it goes into sleep mode after 15 minutes of not sensing movement to preserve your battery.
The reason for it always being on is that's how it saves your preset settings, if it was turned off/unplugged each time the vehicle was turned off you would need to setup the controller each time.

The short answer is neither. You will not need to use a circuit breaker when installing a brake controller on your 2008 Cadillac Escalade because it already has the wiring and fuse locations for the brake controller.

I spoke with my contact at Hopkins regarding your newly installed Impulse model 47235 brake controller and he said that on this particular unit there won't be any lights when stepping on the brake controller if you're not hooked up to a trailer. He did mention, like you did, that on previous generation controllers there would be a light or number displayed when applying the brakes whether connected to a trailer nor not but that is not the case with the Impulse.

In order for the # C51180 Echo to function, you'll need to have all the lighting functions and the 12-volt power feed at the 7-way functional. You can use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to confirm this. First, check the pin in the 1:00 position on the 7-way. You should be picking up power on this circuit.
