As of right now (November 2023) we haven't had a chance to install the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e46KR on a 2024 BMW X3, but we do have an installation video of the Curt Trailer Hitch # C13387 on a 2020 BMW X3 that I'm linking for you to reference.
The only difference between these hitches is the etrailer brand has a matte black finish while the curt has a glossy black finish. I like the matte black better because it blends in with the vehicle better and is more resistance to scratches... view full answer...
I do not know the Delaware of Philadelphia areas so I cannot say for sure. But, any RV dealer that also works on trailer should be able to install the hitch. A qualified and trusted mechanic could also perform the installation. I have included a link to the installation details for you to take a look at. You could always print them out and show them to a potential installer so they have a better idea of what the installation entails ahead of time.

If the trailer you plan to tow has a 7-Way round pole connector, you can install a matching connector on your 2005 BMW X3. But an adapter to go from a 4-Way flat to a 7-Way round pin is not available. Below I have explained how to install a 7-Way round pin connector on the vehicle, but it may be much easier to install a 7-Way blade connector on the trailer using # PK12706. You can use the wiring diagram I have linked to wire the 7-Way blade correctly. I have also included a video that should... view full answer...
Yes, you can install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, # 90195, on your 2018 BMW X3 M40i if it is pre-wired with the 4-pin brake controller connector under the dash. In order to do this we will have to completely cut off the factory plug and butt connect the brake controller wires to the factory wires because a plug-in harness does not exist at this time.
Please note, we strongly recommend using a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test the functions of each wire before you make any cuts or... view full answer...
Brakes controllers, whether they are time delay or proportional, require an input signal from a dedicated brake light only circuit. The mechanic is correct in that the brake light switch wire is very difficult to access on BMWs. But any brake light only circuit such as a CHMSL (center high mount stop lamp) could be used.
A tail light cannot be used on your 2013 BMW X3 because it has a multiplex wiring system that carriers multiple circuits on a single wire. In that case, if the brake lights... view full answer...
If you are using the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 with the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller part # ETBC7 then you only need to run the black wire to the battery and then the white wire to a ground. The blue (brake output) and yellow wires do not need to be run and can just be tied off. I think this is what you are asking but if not please just let me know. view full answer...
In regards to towing with a 2016 BMW X3; you'll need a trailer hitch like the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76226, a trailer wiring harness like the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # C59236, and a ball mount/hitch ball like the etrailer Ball Mount Kit part # 989899. In regards to the rear sensors, these should only be an issue while in reverse. I would check the in-dash settings to see if they can be disable while towing. If... view full answer...

Yes. You won't want to open the rear hatch with the Yakima FullBack 2 # Y02634 attached because the hooks could get pinched and damage your 2020 BMW X3. The great thing about the Yakima FullBack is that it comes with a security lock to keep the rack attached to the car as well as a cable lock that extends from the front of the right arm, wraps around your bikes, and secures to a post built into the arm; this means you won't need any additional security unless you're looking for something... view full answer...
The Tekonsha # 119250KIT is a confirmed fit for your 2012 BMW X3. This is a convenient wiring harness that has circuit protected converters to help prevent any back-feed or short on the trailer wiring from damaging the vehicle's internal electrical components. I recommend the ZCI # 119250KIT because you've got a BMW, which have notoriously finicky electrical systems (any German car, really). This harness will work well for you.
This is also the reason that we don't recommend using wired... view full answer...
You can view the install instructions by clicking on the link provided below or on the product description page.
The install is pretty involved, requiring the removal of the rear bumper fascia and bumper. The hitch actually replaces the bumper beam located behind the fascia. The fascia would then need to be trimmed as shown in the instructions before being replaced on the vehicle. When trimming the fascia, remember the old woodworkers credo: Measure twice, Cut once! view full answer...
