It sounds like you are asking about the tongue weight (TW) calculation for selection of a trailer weight distribution hitch (WD) like the Curt TruTrack # C17500.
The weight of any cargo items behind the rear axle in the bed of a truck needs to be added to the TW of the loaded trailer when selecting a weight distribution hitch. This means cargo weight that is on the tailgate side of the rear axle. Often this will an item like a cooler or a generator.
The total TW of a towing system consists... view full answer...
Hitch Classification is basically just a way to organize hitches by similar capacity. It's not something that really means a whole lot beyond that. If you have an 8k trailer towing capacity that's most likely a Class 4 or Class 5. view full answer...
The Brophy 50mm Hitch Ball # EH53C-C uses a 1 inch UNF hex nut. I personally verified you'll need a 1-1/2 inch socket, like # ALL643210. The recommended torque spec for all trailer hitch balls with a 1 inch diameter shank is 250 ft-lb. view full answer...
Load ranges are basically an easy way to organize trailer tire capacities. They will vary based on the tire size. For example a Load Range C tire in the 4.80-12 tire size like the part # AM30660 that you referenced has a 990 lb capacity at 90 psi.
A Load Range C ST205/75D14 like part # AM3S440 would have a 1,760 lb capacity at 50 psi.
I wish I had a simpler answer to provide for you.
I attached a help article on trailer tire sizing that has all the sizes we carry and the capacities... view full answer...
I spoke with my contact at Erickson, and the # EM06930 flat bungee strap measures 11/16 of an inch wide, and is 2/16 of an inch thick. The maximum extended length of the strap will be around 45 inches, but it varies slightly depending on the weight pulling against the strap.
If you will be using many straps for your application, I recommend the Erickson strap hanger storage unit # EM58000. You can use this to keep the straps organized and on hand in your garage, or it also works really... view full answer...
This is a really good question that we've had before. So on the top of the page size listed is how it's organized on our page. The bottom size is the actual size. If we listed all the different exact sizes on the category page there would be an overwhelming number of choices for the customer. So we use approximate size in the categories and exact sizes in the descriptions. view full answer...
So the Curt Rockerballs like the # C94CR sit about 1-1/2 inches taller than standard balls. And most rise/drop calculations are measured at the base of the ball and not the top so that changes the 16 inch height to be right around 14 inches for how our ball mounts are organized/measured. So then subtract the 1-1/2 inches of the Rockerball puts the height instead at 11-1/2 inches which is right at the 11 inches of your hitch opening. So that would mean you'd want a rise of right at 1/2 inch... view full answer...
That's a bit of a loaded question but I will line up my responses with your questions to try to help keep everything organized.
Since you will be towing in the mountains I would say give yourself a larger cushion when it comes to towing capacity simply because the thinner mountain air will have an affect on the performance of any vehicle, especially when pulling a load.

Cargo bags, like the Curt Cargo Bag # C18211 that you referenced, do not have weight ratings on them. The reason being is that they are intended to protect cargo and not really to lift and move cargo.
The weight capacity of a hitch mounted cargo bag will depend on a few variables. You will need to know the weight capacity of your cargo carrier, trailer hitch, and your vehicle itself.
If the Tongue eight (TW) of your trailer hitch and vehicle is at least 500 lbs then you could potentially... view full answer...
From your purchase records I see that you have purchased the Draw-Tite Sportframe Class I Trailer Hitch 24833 is designed to fit your 2007 Pontiac Solstice and is no longer available. The trailer hitch has a Class I tongue weight rating of 200 pounds.
Since Pontiac determined that your vehicle is not designed to tow a trailer, there is no stated maximum tongue weight capacity for your Solstice in the owner's manual and any weight carried on the hitch will be carried at your own risk.... view full answer...
The maker of your trailer is really the only reliable source for its specifications and capacities. In my research on the Wells Cargo website I too was unable to find any roof details about your trailer other than that the aluminum roof on the 6 x 10 Fast Trac cargo trailer FT6121 is one-piece (to prevent leaks, a nice feature) and that this material has a thickness of .024-inches. No roof weight capacity is provided.
I called Wells Cargo and spoke to a technician there and he advised... view full answer...
There seems to be a bit of confusion here, which I'll try to clear up. There are 3 main capacities related to the weight your vehicle can handle that you generally want to know; your payload (cargo) capacity and towing capacity are going to be two different ratings, and your truck will also have a combined weight rating (GCWR) which is the maximum combined weight of the truck, payload (cargo) and trailer.
From what I was able to find with my research, the 2012 Ram 2500 with the 6.7L Diesel... view full answer...
