Hey Paul, so this is a very valid concern but you would not need to have to worry about the heat from the exhaust of your 2022 Toyota RAV4 affecting the Thule Arcos Cargo Carrier part # TH25YE. This carrier has a rise in the shank to get the carrier above the exhaust and also the carrier is far enough away from the exhaust that you wouldn't have to worry.

The distance between the # e98864 bolt holes closest to the bumper on center is 41.7" and the other set of holes closest to the engine is 42.23". There are a lot of reviews on this hitch and some other RAV4 owners have faced a similar problem. Instead you would want the Curt Ball Mount # C45070, a 2" Ball # 40038 and a Pin and Clip # C21500 for a 4" rise.
