The recommended trailer wiring harness for your 2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor is the Curt Harness part # C56039. Typically what happens on older vehicles or vehicles that have spent time somewhere that uses chemical de-icing agents on the pavement in cold weather is that road crud and corrosion get built up on the threads of the nuts welded up into the vehicle's frame. The Thule Passage trunk mount bike rack # TH910XT is a fit for the 2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor. However, it is possible that this or any trunk mount bike rack can cause abrasions or marks on a vehicle. I own a trunk mount bike rack and have not had this problem myself but it is a possibility.

Since you have a 4-way at the rear of your 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor you will only need a brake controller and the part # ETBC7 that you referenced to install the controller and have a fully functional 7-way at the rear of your vehicle. The first thing to check for a factory fuse that is missing or blown. Check the vehicle owner's manual for any and all fuses related to the tow package wiring so you can check them.
If all the fuses are good and in their proper places, then you will need to test the harness to determine if it is the problem. Use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993. The connection point for the Curt Wiring Harness, # C56039, on a 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor is located under a floor panel adjacent to the spare tire compartment. What you will do is take off the floor hatch above the spare tire.
You will then need to temporarily remove all floor coverings, 10 mm storage tray bolts and storage trays, exposing the spare tire compartment. Remove drivers side and center foam cargo trays to locate tow plug housing under drivers side foam tray.
