When adding an extension to your receiver, the towing capacity of your hitch is reduced by 50 per cent. If you have a class lll hitch installed on your vehicle, the tongue capacity is 350 lbs. Adding an extension would reduce that number to 175 lbs. Based on the weight of your power chair, your hitch would not be able to handle the weight.
