We definitely have what you are looking for. While we do not have a hitch that can attach directly to your bumper of your 2015 Smart fortwo, we do have a hitch-mounted carrier that you can use after the hitch is installed. For the hitch, that is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11020. Not only does this hitch provide you with 200 pounds of maximum tongue weight capacity and 2,000 pounds of gross towing weight capacity, it also comes with a premium gloss... view full answer...
There very well might be different regulations for flat towing a vehicle in the UK when compared to the the USA. In the USA there will also be regulations for each state so you will need to check with the local authorities of the states you will be traveling through when you plan your trip. Unfortunately, I do not have any exact information as to what those regulations might be as it can vary from state to state and from country to country. The other thing you will need to take into consideration... view full answer...
There are only 1-1/4 Class I hitches available for your 2010 Smart Fortwo. The 2 inch hitches are reserved for vehicles with higher towing capacities like trucks and SUVs. For more info check out the FAQ article I attached on hitch classifications.
The only hitch I can recommend for your vehicle would be the Curt Hitch part # C11020 that you referenced.
With this hitch all non-trailer loads - bike racks, cargo carriers and so forth - should be supported with stabilizing straps. Failure... view full answer...
I spoke with my contact at Roadmaster and he informed me that your Sterling Tow Bar came with a cross bar originally and that you will need a replacement. For that he recommended the Roadmaster Quick Disconnect Cross Bar # 910021-00.
The # 910021-00 comes with quick-disconnects that will make connecting and disconnecting from the Roadmaster Base Plate # 52285-1 easy. The quick disconnects basically slide into each other vertically and a pin goes through the top to prevent them from coming... view full answer...
I found the owners manual of your 2015 Smart fortwo and they state that for tow dolly purposes you are supposed to have the rear axle on the dolly and the front axle on the road. Check out page 171 of your manual for more info and procedures. You can then use a tow dolly like the Roadmaster part # RM-2050-1. view full answer...
To trickle charge the battery on your vehicle you will need to use a # 37185 to convert the 4-way on your tow vehicle to a 7-way. You will need to route the purple wire of this 7-way to the positive side of your battery on your tow vehicle through a circuit breaker like part # 9510 and 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1.
Now for an umbilical to go from the 7-way to a 5-way you will want to use the part # HM47075. You will then need to use the part # 47515 to convert the 4-way on your toad... view full answer...
The Kuat Transfer 1 Bike Platform Rack # KU64FR will allow you to carry a bike with fenders if they are mounted in a way that will allow the clamping force needed to secure the bike without damage to the fender. With plastic fenders I don't recommend using that bike rack as it could deform your fender.
For your RadCity Commuter bike, you could look at how the RockyMounts HighNoon FC Solo Bike Rack for 1 Bike - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # RKY87RR mounts. It has extra features... view full answer...
I see that Jeff L told you a few years back that the Invisi-Brake part # RM-8700 would not fit your vehicle due to it's braking style. Since then the fit info has changed for this braking system and it is listed as a fit for your 2008 Smart fortwo.
That being said, for the permanent install style of supplemental braking I would recommend the SMI DUO part # SM99251 instead as our installers here are a huge fan of it. They like it because of how easy it is to install and how and how well... view full answer...
The # 52285-1 base plate kit is compatible with all Roadmaster tow bars. I'd recommend the Roadmaster Falcon 2, part # RM-520. The Falcon 2 features a self-aligning design that would make hooking up your ForTwo easy without the need to have the car perfectly lined up behind the motorhome. The Falcon 2 actually includes the crossbar and quick disconnects that comprise part # 910021-00, so you wouldn't need to purchase those separately.
If you'd care to see an install video for the base... view full answer...
The Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # HM56200 is not a fit for your 2013 Smart fortwo. There is not a harness that plugs into the factory wiring of your vehicle, but there are some great options that are confirmed fits but require splicing. I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 which will give you a clean connection on the front of your Smart and will allow you to splice into your factory wiring while protecting your... view full answer...
Yes, the Demco base plate kit, part # DM9518256 that you have is compatible with the Dominator Tow Bar part # DM9511008. There's nothing wrong with having more capacity than you need so this tow bar should work well for you.
There are several other components need to complete a flat towing setup. The Aventa comes with safety cables, you will need a lighting option though.
For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing.... view full answer...

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11020 would be a good choice. It is rated for up to 200 lbs. of tongue weight and your total load is going to be around 145 lbs. Of course check the owner's manual on your Smart to ensure that it is rated to handle at least the 145 lbs. you plan on hauling. As long as it is you're in good shape.
I have linked an installation video for you to check out on the hitch being installed on your vehicle for you to check out. view full answer...
Yes you can use the # 118379 as a way to power the taillight circuits of a 7-way. It would be just a matter of cutting off the 4-way and wiring to the correct pin on the 7-way like you can see in the attached picture. view full answer...
If you are looking for a creative solution that will allow you to attach a single bike rack to your 2016 Smart fortwo, I recommend the SeaSucker Talon Roof Bike Rack - Fork Mount - Vacuum Cup Mounted # 298-BT1004. The Talon comes with a weight capacity of 45 pounds and includes a HUSKE universal fork mount, a 9-mm thru-axle adapter, and a quick-release skewer to secure your bike. The Tekonsha P3, part # 90195 that you'd looked at is compatible with trailers with electric AND electric over hydraulic brakes.
Electric over hydraulic brakes use an electric pump that's actuated by an electric over hydraulic compatible brake controller to apply the hydraulic trailer brakes. The P3 has some other nice features like an easy to understand display, easy to use controls, and programmable settings for multiple trailers. These settings are really useful for folks that haul... view full answer...
In 2012 the RV manufacturers weren't equipping their campers with camera brackets so most likely what you have on your 2012 Itasca Cambria was added later on. There's a really good chance it was a Furrion setup which the part # FOS05TASF would fit right to but even if you had a different brand bracket this kit comes with a new one so worst case scenario you'd just have to replace the bracket which is pretty simple. view full answer...
There are a few considerations you need to make when selecting a fifth wheel hitch. In regards to weight, you must be within both the vertical load (pin weight) as well as the gross trailer weight. The Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30047 for example has a 4,000 lb vertical load and 16,000 lb gross trailer weight rating. This should be more than enough for your needs. view full answer...
To flat tow your 2012 Smart fortwo behind your Toyota Tacoma you will need base plates, a compatible tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking.
First, for base plates I recommend the Blue Ox model # BX1987 because they are generally easier to install and cost a little less than the competition.
For a compatible tow bar there are a couple of ways to approach it. You could go with a tow bar that costs a little more and end up saving money on the braking system or you could... view full answer...
