Since Toyota recommends not to tow with the xB I cannot recommend doing so, although it is done quite frequently.
In my research I found several people on both sides, some saying they do not tow with the xB, and others saying that they tow all the time. Most people that do tow say they do not tow anything over 1,000 lbs to be on the safe side.

We do have trailer hitches that will fit your 2006 Scion xB but # C12490 only goes back to 2008 models. For your 2006 you can use the Curt hitch # C11487.
If you plan on doing any towing the correct ball mount to use is # 3593 . For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch use # 19258. For trailer wiring use # C56030. Keep in mind the tongue weight capacity of the hitch is 200 pounds and the gross trailer weight capacity is 2,000 pounds.

A Class I and Class II hitch is offered for your xB. I'd avoid the Class I, as it would limit you to carrying only two bikes due to its limited weight capacity.
The Curt Class II hitch, part # C12490 would allow you to carry up to 4 bikes. Curt's warranty requires that a # 18050 support strap be used by all non-trailer loads like a bike rack. I'll link you to a video showing how the strap is used.

When there is an option always go for the highest Class hitch for any given vehicle. A higher class hitch will allow you more options for accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers in addition to greater towing capacity. For a 2009 Scion xB we have Class II trailer hitch # 12490. The main differences you will find are due to the design of the crossbars. Square crossbars can be quite a lot noisier than some of the more aerodynamic crossbars we offer.

The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56030 that you mentioned is the correct custom harness for your 2006 Scion xB. From what I could find, your vehicle's factory wiring system should have the brake and turn signals sent along separate circuits.

The SH code of a Primus brake controller # TK90160 indicates that there is a short on the brake output circuit. This means that some where between the brake controller and the brake assemblies of your trailer the circuit is shorting out to something metal. Commonly this is due to corrosion on the trailer connectors. This can be fixed by hitting the connector with some fine grit sandpaper.

RVs and motorhomes have a very long distance between the rear axle of the vehicle and the back of the vehicle. Because of this bumps in the road are greatly exaggerated back there.
