You should not have any problems. Make sure to stay within towing capacity limits of your vehicle and hitch which I do not see being an issue. I imagine you already have a hitch and trailer wiring for towing for your 2002 Nissan Pathfinder. Your Titan would've been factory equipped either with or without the 7-way trailer connector. If there's indeed a connector on the rear, it would be the 7-way.
There's a few ways you can go about doing this. The easiest option would be to adapt the 7-way to work with a 4-pole by using a plug-in adapter like part # PK12716.

If you have a factory installed 7-way trailer connector, the relay you mentioned, part # V38937-1 should already be installed. All you will need is a Brake Controller and the wiring harness like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Proportional Brake Controller # 90885 with Nissan Adapter, # 3050-P. The fact that the Curt # C51170 has a direct connection to battery is not unique to the Curt Spectrum brake controller, they all install in that manner. This is purposely done as a safety measure, so the user can't forget to turn on the brake controller before they tow.

Based on my research, in your 2007 Nissan Titan the 10-amp fuse for taillights is located in the IPDM, which is behind the power distribution box in a separate enclosure (closer to the passenger). The IPDM, or Intelligent Power Distribution module, has two 10-amp fuses, one of which is for the taillight circuit. You may need a long screwdriver and needle nose pliers to get the fuse out.
