Your current 5.7-8 tires are 5.7 inches wide and 18 inches in diameter. Moving to 145/80r12 tires would give you the same width, but a larger diameter of 21.1 inches. If you want to stay with your current size tires I've linked the page to all your options. This will give you a height difference of 3 inches and that reduces your wheel well or fender clearance by 1.5 inches. You need to account for suspension travel, but if you have enough clearance you can swap out your wheels and tires.

You have done your research. As you have seen, all of the hitches for the 2010 Mazda 3 are Class I trailer hitches. The Draw-Tite and Hidden Hitch models do have the safety notch in them that prevent the insertion of a Class II accessory. This is so you will not accidentally overload the hitch.
