The ground for the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-88400 typically gets tied into the ground for the braking system to intertwine them so that they're active at the same time. When used to prevent turn signals from overriding the brake signal the relay is essentially just a switch that requires the running light signal from the motorhome in order for it to turn on so that it doesn't interfere with the vehicle's signals when not being towed.

It'll work either way, but they're on the top mostly for ease of install. When the bolt is threaded into the rivnut and you tighten it down it start to bulge out as it bolt compresses it against the inside of the trailer frame, locking it into place. If the hole you drilled is slightly too large then the splines on the rivnut won't be able to grip the frame and it will spin as you try to tighten the bolt. Hey Sue, so the wiring colors you mentioned don't match what the part # PP20-702 have so I am not sure what's going on. This is supposed to have two yellow wires that you run to both stop turn circuits and then the green runs to the isolated brake light circuit.
I would also check to make sure the wire colors you ran to on the trailer wiring are the correct stop/turn circuits as well. view full answer...
