  • Troubleshooting Non-Functional Running Lights on Toad When Using Hopkins Dingy Wiring
  • When trailer or toad wiring has an issue with running/tail lights but other functions work fine the problem is most often related to a weak ground. What happens is that if a ground connection is not 100-percent solid and with bare-metal-to-bare-metal contact the weak ground will allow some lower-power signals to pass (stop and turn lights that don't draw as much current) but won't let the higher-current always-on taillights function. This is a common issue and it usually has a simple fix. Find...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Connector On 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited With No Trailer Running Lights
  • The problem with no running lights when you turn on the Jeep headlights sounds like a blown fuse. You first want to check the fuse panel or your owner's manual and make sure the fuse is good. Since you said you have no power at the pin on the harness, it leads me to believe the fuse is blown or you have a bent pin on the harness, or a wire is loose or damaged from the back of the harness connector. You can check for corrosion as well. A corroded pin will not show current. If this is...

  • Falcon 5250 Tow Bar Will Not Latch
  • I spoke with my contact at Roadmaster and he stated that the most likely problem with your Falcon 5250 Tow Bar not latching is the Autowlok button or buttons will need to be replaced. he said that often times the spring inside goes bad over time and replacing the mechanism will solve the problem. We do carry the repair kit, # RM-910003-50, and I have included a link to the installation details for you.

  • 2005 Jeep Wrangler Left Brake Light Stays On All the Time When Connected to RV
  • To determine where the problem is I recommend having the 2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited plugged up to the RV and then use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to test the wiring starting at the RV. You are looking for constant power on the left brake light/turn signal wire. Start at the RV and work your way back until you find the problem. If it doesn't show up until after the diode, then that could mean that the diode is the problem. Also, if you are using a supplemental braking system...

  • Troubleshooting Even Brake Portable Proportional Braking System On 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
  • I called my contact at Roadmaster about the # RM-9400 and the troubleshooting message you keep getting. They told me that you need to check the green wire that is coming out of the # RM-751452 switch. You should only show current when the brake pedal is depressed. If you are not showing current, then the switch is probably bad or it has shorted out and needs to be replaced.

  • Troubleshooting A Hard Brake Pedal After Flat Towing A Jeep With Demco Air Force One
  • Based on the symptoms you're describing with your Air Force One # SM99243 it sound like you have a leak somewhere and the brake booster is having to rebuild the vacuum pressure, which is why the pedal is hard and requiring you to pump it back up before driving. I recommend looking at your check valve between the tee and engine for leaks and tracing your air lines for any cracks or loose connections. If none are found then the check valve could have also just failed and needs to be replaced...

  • Troubleshooting Losing Turn Signal in Towed Vehicle When Headlights are Turned On in Coach
  • Thanks for your business. I can certainly help you troubleshoot this issue with you. From what you describe it sounds like you are having a ground issue. When you turn on your headlights you are drawing more amperage which if you have a bad ground can then start to cause issues. First thing I would do is check the ground wire on the Jeep and make sure it's tightly mounted to a clean metal surface. If that doesn't fix the issue we need to identify where the issue is coming from. We...

  • Troubleshooting No Output On A Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller In A 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
  • The Tekonsha P3 # 90195 employs an inertial sensor. It senses the deceleration of your Wrangler and generates an output that is based on that deceleration. If you're testing controller by pressing the brake pedal while it's parked it will not activate the brakes on your trailer. Another thing to check would be the power setting you have the controller at. At minute 1 of the attached video below Randy will walk you through adjusting the power level settings. One other thing to check...

  • Reverse Lights Flash when Left Turn Signal is On Using Hopkins Tow Bar Wiring on 2015 Jeep Wrangler
  • This is the first time I have heard of this issue with any Hopkins tow bar wiring harness such as # HM56200 on a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Since this harness plugs in line with the tail light wiring there isn't a way that it could have been connected in the wrong spot. It is possible though that there is a bent pin or maybe corrosion that is causing a short to jump to the reverse light on that one side. That is the first thing I would check. Another thing that might cause the harness...

  • Troubleshooting No Power on Red Wire of Curt Trailer Wiring for 2019 Jeep Wrangler JL
  • If the red wire of the # C56407 that fits your 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited does not have power on it that would indicate most likely that it's not connected to the battery properly, the fuse isn't installed/has blown, or maybe there's a problem with the wire. I'd be shocked though if the problem is the wire as that's basically unheard of. If you have a circuit tester with a probe like # PTW2993 test the wire before and after the fuse as that will narrow down where the problem might be.

  • Troubleshooting Left Stop/Turn Light Not Functioning On Trailer
  • Sounds like you are trying to figure out why the left brake light on your trailer isn't functioning but the rest of the trailer lighting seems to be working. Typically this problem is due to a bad ground on the light assembly. The light grounds should be attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces. If there is anything between a light ground and the metal trailer frame or if the trailer has an aluminum frame, tilt bed, or folding tongue, any of these things can interrupt...

  • No Left Turn Signal And Hot Yellow Wire On Curt Trailer Wiring For A 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
  • Installing the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector Item # C56407 on a 2019 Jeep JL Wrangler Unlimited should be straight forward. Due to the plug and play connectors, typically there are very few things that could go wrong. To narrow down the issue you are having, I would start by removing your left tail light. Check the pins on each of the plugs to make sure none are bent. If any are carefully straighten them. Reconnect the plugs and make sure it...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Connector of Right Hand Drive 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
  • I checked with my Tekonsha representative, who tells me that they don't have specific installation instructions geared toward a right hand drive 2013 Wrangler. He suggested pulling the left side taillight assembly and checking to see if the taillight harness connection is there, if not it's likely located on the right side. Before replacing anything, I'd recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 on the pins of the trailer connector as each taillight function is being activated. If...

  • Troubleshooting Lighting Issues After Installing The Roadmaster Diode Kit On A 2008 Jeep Wrangler
  • If the left light on your 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is dull after installing the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit Item # RM-154 then you have a connection issue. I recommend checking the wiring and making sure there is no loose or damaged wiring. If you're having issues when hooked up to the motorhome then first you want to make sure it's wired correctly. The lighting on your 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is combined. I've attached the wiring diagrams for a combined wiring...

  • Reducing Noise From Rhino Rack Vortex Series Roof Rack Crossbar Kits
  • Generally, aero bars are as quiet as they can get, but there's a few extra steps you can take to try and reduce the noise from your Rhino Rack SG Roof Rack Kit, part # RRSG59. - If you're experiencing a high pitched whistle that seems to come from near one of the connection points, you may not have a great fit to that particular leg. You can improve performance by repeating the installation of the rack, focusing on alternating tightening down the two legs, doing half of the turns required...

  • Can Curt Echo Brake Controller Work with 5-Way on Boat Trailer
  • In order for the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 to work properly you will need to install a 7-Way connector on your boat trailer. Typically the 5-Way connectors carry the standard trailer light functions plus the reverse light function so I'm not even sure if your current setup is able to provide power to brakes on your boat trailer. I recommend using the Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit # HS381-9000 to accomplish this since it comes with a junction box that helps...

  • Troubleshooting Invisibrake Monitor and Breakaway Installation on 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
  • The motorhome monitor alarm in Monitor/Alarm Kit # RM-98850 will not sound when you press the motorhome brake pedal. If someone presses the toad brake pedal for more than 20-seconds then you should hear the alarm. As for the breakaway my contact at Roadmaster suggested testing the breakaway wiring. The black wire should have voltage all the time; the white wire should have voltage only when the pin is pulled. If you have power on the black wire but the white wire does not go hot when the...

  • Troubleshooting Roadmaster InvisiBrake Pulsing When Flashers Are Turned On
  • This is definitely something that Roadmaster has seen occur with the Invisibrake # RM-8700, so there's nothing to fear. What you're experiencing should stop after a few cycles through with the hazards flashing and once the system learns that this isn't the brake signal it shouldn't happen again.

  • Reverse Lights Stay On After Installing Mopar Trailer Wiring Harness on 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
  • It sounds like the center post on your 7-Way is set up for auxiliary 12 volt power rather than reverse lights on your 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. You can remove the wire to the center terminal on the 7-Way and splice it into a reverse light wire behind one of the tail lights. Is this happening on a trailer you are towing or the Jeep itself? If it is on the Jeep then it sounds like there is a short that is jumping from the 12 volt circuit to the reverse light circuit and backfeeding somehow...
