Correct, there are no supports directly under the mesh bottom of the Curt Cargo Carrier for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # C18110.
The # C18110 has braces at the front and back that extend out (see photo) so the entire weight isn't supported only by the middle beam, but nothing directly under the mesh.

The diode kits will work with LED lighting, you'll just need to determine if you do have ParkSense Proximity Sensors or not. Like you said, the Invisibrake requires diodes in order for the unit to function properly. Instead, I recommend using Roadmaster Diode Kit # RM-15267, which will contain the necessary diodes.

For a complete setup you need a tow bar, base plate, safety cables, wiring, supplemental braking system, and more than likely a high-low adapter. You should get a constant 12 volts on the red wire when you step on the brakes and no voltage when not stepping on the brakes. You can use a circuit tester like the item # PTW2992 to measure the voltage coming off of the 3rd brake light.
