Trimming the fascia on a 2010 Jeep Compass, is only required on the Rallye Edition model. This does include the Draw-Tite # 75712. If you do not have the Rallye Edition, you will not have to do any trimming to install any of the available hitches. Sometimes after installing a trailer hitch the exhaust cannot be reinstalled in the same location without touching the trailer hitch. The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118539 is the correct harness for your 2014 Jeep Compass. The connector you removed is only for the brake/running light on your tail light. The Replacement Bottom Channel Cover for Thule AeroBlade Load Bars # 852-4498-001 does not need to be glued into place; it should fit snugly because of the barbed sides on the strip that will keep it in the channel. Because of the way the muffler sits transversely behind the rear bumper, it's not possible to install a hitch on a 2nd generation Compass without temporarily dropping the exhaust. The exhaust tips and muffler will prevent you from accessing the frame mounting points on the passenger side.

Since you already have the 4-pole trailer connector in place, the rest is pretty easy. If your trailer does not have brakes and you don't need the 12-v feed from the battery of the tow vehicle, you can simply use the
# 31785 4-pole to 7-way adapter. Plug the 4 pole from the adapter into the 4-pole you installed and ground the white wire to the vehicle frame, and you're good to go. You'll also need a bracket like # 18136 to mount the 7-way to the hitch crossbar.

My technical contact at Kat's Heaters confirmed that their Cartridge Style Engine Block Heater # KH11812 will install in your 2011 Jeep Compass 2.0L in a port located on the front/driver's side of the block. The Hopkins 4-way connector, part # HM48205, uses white for ground, brown for the running lights, green for right side (passenger) turn signals and brake lights, and yellow for left side (driver) turn signals and brake lights. This is the standard wire coloring for trailer wiring, but just because it's standard doesn't make it law.

You are correct. If you don't have brakes on your trailer then you can just use the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 as an adapter and then only connect the 12V power to the battery on your 2018 Jeep Compass to help maintain your battery level. I do recommend routing the brake controller wire from the 7-Way at least up to the engine compartment though since this is duplex wiring. This will make it easier to install a brake controller if you need to do so in the future.
