Trailer bouncing and rough rides are common complaints among customers that are towing their fifth wheel trailer with a gooseneck hitch and a gooseneck adapter like part # AM3100. Gooseneck adapters create extra distance between the king pin and trailer hitch and this extra distance creates torque on the trailer frame which creates the chucking and bouncing that you are referring to.
Fifth-Wheel-to-Gooseneck coupler adapters are a good solution if you tow a gooseneck trailer and a fifth... view full answer...
For starters, keep in mind that for the best ride quality, ideally you would want to tow a fifth wheel trailer using a fifth wheel hitch. Sacrificing some ride quality is usually the nature of the beast when using a fifth wheel to gooseneck adapter.
Having said this, there are some things you will want to check. If you are using the offset adapter like part # CAB-C5GX1216, you will need to make sure that the flange on the top of the adapter is bolted to the bottom of the pin box. Make... view full answer...
If your Curt X5 Fifth Wheel Adapter # 16310 was left in a hitch for an extended period of time is very possible that it seized up in the hitch. You would just need to apply liberal amounts of penetrating oil like WD40 around the shank of the adapter. Applying some and then allowing it to soak for a while would be your best option.
If it is still being stubborn you can try installing a fifth wheel hitch in the rails, attaching it to a fifth wheel trailer, and then with the pin of the gooseneck... view full answer...
Technically any of the fifth wheel trailer to gooseneck adapters that attach to the trailers pin box will void the warranty of the trailer. The only similar option that won't is the Reese Goose Box which is a pin box style replacement adapter. I would need to know what trailer you have to pick that out. Or since you have a B and W Turnoverball gooseneck you could just use a Companion fifth wheel hitch that fits it directly like the part # BWRVK3500 for a fixed hitch or part # BWRVK3400... view full answer...
Yes, the Ultra-Fab Gooseneck Trailer Tripod Stabilizer # UF19-950450 that you referenced will fit and work great with a Reese Goosebox fifth wheel to gooseneck adapter. view full answer...
Have you measured to make sure the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter # AM3139 works with the hitch ball in your 2016 Nissan Titan XD? If not, what you need to do is line up your fifth wheel and Titan on level ground and measure from the bottom of the pin box to the top of the gooseneck ball. That measurement needs top be between 11-3/4" and 14-3/4" for the adapter to work with your truck.
As for the release cable if nothing is happening when you attempt to use... view full answer...
Sounds like you are experiencing a bit of chucking while towing with the Convert-A-Ball Adapter part # CAB-C5G. A little bit of chucking is normal with adapters like this and with fifth wheel towing in general.
Severe chucking isn't a common occurrence with this adapter as we have not heard of this issue from the several customers of ours who have tried it. Now if you can see movement on the adapter when the noise is heard then something isn't installed properly or the adapter is overloaded... view full answer...
If you are using the remote and cannot seem to get the adapter to release you may want to loosen the four screws on the remote box to make sure it is working properly and releasing the adapter from the goose ball.
You will want to try and make sure the truck and trailer are on a level plane when trying to get the adapter to release. view full answer...
You are correct that there is a conflict in using any gooseneck adapter with a Revolution or Sidewinder style pin box. The rotating turret being further back creates too much movement and torque for the gooseneck hitch. You can simply lock your Revolution pin box by using conical washers and torqueing the 3/4 inch bolts to 210 foot lbs and removing the wedge.
That will allow your system to pivot at the hitch and work with your gooseneck and adapter, you just won't have the Revolution's... view full answer...
We have not received any reports of the Rapid Hitch Universal Fifth-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter, # AM3100, not releasing from a gooseneck hitch, but the cable release system for the pin that secures the adapter to the hitch ball is a pretty simple set up and should be easy to troubleshoot.
I would recommend removing the four bolts on the housing that the cable is attached to. Once removed, you will see a small cable attached to a metal plate. There could be two issues here, either... view full answer...

I have a Reese Elite Series base unit installed that has the 4 twist in studs and a 5th wheel hitch that mates. Can I install a BW flip over gooseneck Item # BWGNRC907 unit underneath in addition to the existing installed Reese Elite? It looks like there is room underneath the bed to do this. ? view full answer...
If your trailer's gooseneck hitch is in the lowest possible position, you may be able to replace it with something with either more adjustability or has a lower profile. The Pro Series 25K Gooseneck Plate for Fifth Wheel Rails by Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch and Reese, part # 16055, will work. It has a 2-1/2" rise from the truck bed to the base of the hitch ball. Your existing gooseneck trailer hitch, part # 16085 has slightly more than 3".
If this will not work, you will have to raise your... view full answer...
Yes, the base of the Andersen Ultimate Connection like our 5th wheel base rail version # AM3200 (I'm assuming you have the gooseneck model which we don't have available) can be reversed so that the offset is turned towards the cab instead. This will place the camper's pin weight more over the rear axle which is going to result in a smoother ride and better support during travel.
Since your Sierra has the 8 foot bed cab clearance isn't a concern so there's no problem with doing this. view full answer...
We get questions like this every once in a while. Getting 8 inches is not an easy, but let's explore some options.
The Anderson you have at the lowest point sits at 16-3/4 inches and then uses the adapter. You may gain 2 inches by using the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter - Single Jaw - 21,000 lbs # DM8550045 which has a lowest height at 15-1/2 inches. Good question! I just did a video on the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter Pin Box part # 325-GH-8045 and had the same tight pin. To me it was coming from the thickness of the powder coating. I took a drill bit and slightly cleaned up the inside of the hole the pin slides in and it works like a charm now. So just take a bit, ream it out a touch and it will slide right in. view full answer...
It looks like you have the Curt X5 5th Wheel Base Rail Adapter # 16310 for B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Trailer Hiches. A lot of times when the pin isn't quite lining up with the adapter's mounting post it's because of a slight elevation caused by a bed liner or mat. If you have a bed liner/mat you will need to trim around the base of the adapter so that it sits flush with the bed. This should drop the post enough to line up with the pin.
If you don't have a liner and it's just a tiny bit... view full answer...
Chucking usually occurs while accelerating and decelerating, but if this is happening while regular driving, there is something else going on. As you are using the B&W Turnoverball # BWGNRK1012 to tow a fifth wheel camper, I assume you are using an adapter of some sort.
If it is an adapter that bolts to an existing king pin, like the Convert-A-Ball # CAB-C5G, then it could be that the height setting range is not enough to properly work with your truck/trailer set up causing some porpoising.... view full answer...
When using a 5th wheel to gooseneck adapter such as # CAB-C5G the connection point between the trailer and the gooseneck ball is extended. That increased distance allows for more movement which is likely what you are experiencing.
The trailer needs to be able to move and lean side to side, it is just more pronounced with this type of 5th wheel to gooseneck adapter. view full answer...
You are correct to have concern here because the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter # CAB-C5G is not recommended for use with the Hide-A-Goose on Ram models from 2013-present. This is because the gooseneck hitch ball that has a plastic handle on top that folds into the hitch ball and the Convert-A-Ball has a nut on the inside that will damage the plastic handle.
An alternative that would work that I recommend is the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler... view full answer...
In order to install the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3400-5W in your 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 short bed you have to first install a rail kit in the bed of the truck to provide the attachment point for the hitch.
The rail kit part # BWGNRK1012-5W installs to the frame of your truck and provides you with a way to securely mount the hitch. This also doubles as a gooseneck hitch so if you ever had to tow a gooseneck trailer this would be a nice feature.
