Question:
I bought a used curt fifth wheel rail adapter for my truck and cannot get the pin to lock the hitch down... installed the adapter and put some wood glue on the pin and it looks like the pin is about a full length below the hole for the adapter The picture has a shiny spot where the pin was hitting

It looks like you have the Curt X5 5th Wheel Base Rail Adapter # 16310 for B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Trailer Hiches. A lot of times when the pin isn't quite lining up with the adapter's mounting post it's because of a slight elevation caused by a bed liner or mat. If you have a bed liner/mat you will need to trim around the base of the adapter so that it sits flush with the bed. This should drop the post enough to line up with the pin.
If you don't have a liner and it's just a tiny bit off, our contact at Curt said you can also try putting a jack under the center of the B&W Turnoverball to lift it slightly so that it catches with the post.
If you are still having trouble installing the adapter please let me know and I will be happy to look into this further.
