The Tekonsha # 118272 was developed specifically for a 2011 to 2019 Ford Explorer so I cannot recommend it for your 2014 Flex. Sometimes the plugs will be the same on multiple vehicles, but from there, the wires can go just about anywhere. I couldn't confirm any of this with Tekonsha, but again, with this being designed for just the Explorer it will most likely not work on your Flex.

Since your 2009 Ford Flex has the factory tow package and a factory 7-Way trailer connector at the rear of the vehicle the location of the brake controller plug is located under the dash, near the center console.
