If done so, you risk the chance of the bushing slipping out causing damage as well as risking losing control of the motorhome.

I would check these connectors as it sounds like they were mixed up if the unit was swapped out. This would explain why your jack positions are all off and why the auto level fails when you try to use it. The system sends power to one jack and when a different jack lifts the camper the internal sensors read an error.
