  • C56387 - Is It Ok To Connect Power Wire To Accessory Outlet Instead Of Directly To Battery?
  • No, you cannot run the power feed wire on the Curt # C56387 to an accessory outlet in the back seat. The hot lead MUST be ran directly to the battery. This is the only way to ensure your car's wiring and electrical systems are not otherwise damaged/affected. I know getting the wire to the battery can be a bit of a hassle, but it needs to be done. I have linked our install video below if you want to take a look.

  • Base Plate Kit Needed for a 2018 Chevy Malibu Without the Active Shutter System
  • All of our base plate options do say "without Active Air Shutter System" on them. I didn't find anything saying that we have a fit for the 2018 Chevy Malibu with the Active Shutter System but if you could let me know where you saw it we can definitely look into it. For your Chevy Malibu I recommend using the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1726 which is a custom fit for your vehicle and features removable arms for a clean look when you aren't flat towing. This kit is compatible with a Blue...

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver Fit For 2009 Chevy Malibu LTZ
  • The only trailer hitch receiver fit for your 2009 Chevy Malibu LTZ is a Class II hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver so there is not one with a 2" receiver. So for your Malibu, what you will need is the following: - Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12051 Like I said this is a Class II, but to answer your question the difference between Class I and Class II is a Class I generally has a stopper to prevent the hitch from using anything but Class I accessories. • Availability of Base Plates for 2016 Chevy Malibu
  • 2016 is what's known as a split model year for the Chevy Malibu, which means there's actually two different models carrying the Malibu nameplate. The 2016 Chevy Malibu Limited is the same vehicle as the 2015, it's essentially a 'leftover' from the previous model year. The 2016 Chevy Malibu has a completely new body style, and is a brand-new vehicle. If you have the 2016 Malibu Limited, the Roadmaster # RM-523183-5 base plate is compatible with the active air shutter system. To use a Blue...

  • How Does the Tow Ready Wiring Harness part # C59496 Install on a 2008 Chevy Malibu
  • Since you have determined that your 2008 Chevy Malibu has a 2 wire (combined) taillight system you will need to ground both the red and the white wire of the # install harness part # C59496. Aside from that you will install the brown wire of the harness to your taillight circuit, the green to your right stop/turn, and the yellow to your left stop/turn. The brown wire you found on your vehicle taillights shouldn't be carrying both your turn signal circuits and your running light circuits...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch For 2015 Chevrolet Malibu Turbo With Dual Exhaust
  • For your 2015 Chevrolet Malibu Turbo I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # C12115. This hitch is a Class ll hitch and has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. I spoke with my contact at Curt and they told me that the dual exhaust should be no issue when installing this hitch, so you should be good to go. I have attached an installation video for this hitch on a 2014 Malibu you can check out. A note from Curt states that all non-trailer loads - bike racks, cargo carriers and so forth -...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Chevy Malibu
  • For your 2018 Chevy Malibu the best hitch option is the Draw Tite part # 36652 which is a confirmed fit. I really like this hitch the best because it has a non-visibly cross tube which means it would be more concealed. For trailer wiring you'd want the part # C56313 for if you have a Premier and part # C56387 for if you do not.

  • Trailer Hitch and Towing Accessory Recommendations for a 2011 Chevy Malibu
  • For the 2011 Chevy Malibu there is only the Curt Class II, 1-1/4 inch trailer hitche receiver. If you plan on doing some towing, the correct ball mount is # C45522 and you can use pin and clip # F-4. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch use # 19258. For trailer wiring, use # 118450. I have included some informational links to the hitch and wiring for you. If you will be using the hitch for an accessory like a bike rack or cargo carrier that requires a 2 inch receiver, you...

  • Is an AirLift Kit Recommended for a 2004 Chevy Malibu Towing a 1000 lb Boat
  • The capacities of the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch # 24656 that you referenced are 2,000 lbs gross trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight. That means your hitch can handle the weight of your setup, but you should still check the owners manual of your 2004 Chevy Malibu to see what Chevy recommends as towing capacities. You would want the max amount of tongue weight as possible when loading the boat on the trailer. If you do not have the weight of the trailer loaded as far forward...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2014 Chevy Malibu
  • Unless your Chevy Malibu is a 2014 model the part # 36543 that you referenced would not be the correct hitch for you. Instead you would want the Draw-Tite part # 36538 as it is the correct hitch for your vehicle and would work well. For trailer wiring you would want the part # 118602 for if you have an LTZ model or part # 118576 for if you do not have an LTZ model. You will need the recommended ball mount, part # 36061. For hitch balls you would want the part # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch...

For your Malibu LT you can use Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 36538. For the correct ball mount use # 36061. To add a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258. • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2011 Chevy Malibu
  • When flat towing a vehicle, there are 5 main components that are needed. Starting with base plates, for a 2011 Chevy Malibu you can use Roadmaster EZ base plates # 523145-5. The base plates provide a safe and secure attachment point for a tow bar. When choosing a tow bar, you will need one that is compatible with EZ base plates. I recommend the Roadmaster Stowmaster tow bar, part # RM-501. I have included a link to the installation details and a link to a video review for you to view....

  • How to Wire a Trailer Connector Harness on a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu
  • If your 2009 Chevy Malibu is not an LTZ model, you do not have to hard wire the connector. You can use a T-Connector style harness, part # 118450, and connect to the connectors at the back of the tail lights. If you do have an LTZ model you will have to hardwire your Malibu using something like part # C59496. We have a video of the installation of a similar part on a 2004 Malibu that will walk you through the process. Due to the body change in 2008 and up models, the wiring may be in a...

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2014 Chevy Malibu 2LT
  • For your 2014 Chevy Malibu 2LT I recommend Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 36538. This is a Class II bike rack with a 1-1/4 inch receiver so it can handle 2 bikes on a rack, no problem. For a bike rack a popular option is the Swagman XTC-2 2-Bike Platform Rack for 1-1/4" and 2" Trailer Hitches Item # S64670. This is a platform style rack so it is compatible with many bike styles and the first bike will be fairly close to the vehicle when loaded. I have linked a video review of this rack for you.

  • Hitch Bike Rack Recommendation That Will Fit My 2011 Chevrolet Malibu
  • With only a 1/4 inch of clearance, I would look into another hitch mounted bike rack over the # TH9042PRO. The reason being that there is just so little room for error and there is an increased risk for damage to the bumper fascia when mounting the hitch bike rack. Also, when using an adapter or extender, the tongue weight capacity of your hitch is reduced by half. I would recommend going with the Lets Go Aero NEO2 2-Bike Rack, part # B01748, which has 12-1/4 inches of clearance from the...
