I would use the Roadmaster # RM-523193-5 Base Plate Kit for Direct-Connect. From looking at the attached instructions (Figure T) the only trimming is to a small area on the left and right of an air dam, behind the grill. You can see the shutters at the top of that figure and they do not appear to be affected. I have also attached a video demonstration of the installation.

I am not sure what, if any, benefit new cooler lines would offer. But the right transmission cooler will do the trick. If your 2009 Chevy Equinox has the 3.4 liter engine, we have several options.
I recommend the Derale Transmission Cooler, # D12901. This has the simplest, tube fin design. It is fairly small so it should be easy to find the best mounting point.

In my research on your 2012 Chevy Equinox, I found that the towing capacity for models with the 2.4L 4 cylinder engine is 1500 lbs, while models equipped with the 3.0L 6 cylinder engine like yours have a 3500 lb towing capacity. This is how much the trailer can weigh by itself and still be safe.

I recommend using the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C77FR for carrying 2 bikes with your 2020 Chevy Equinox. I like the Curt hitches because we have found that they have better welds and a thicker powder coat which promotes a longer lasting hitch receiver. We have actually been able to install this on a 2020 Equinox so I have attached that installation video as well as a photo of the finished project for you to check out.

The Blue Ox Ascent # BX4370 and the Roadmaster Nighthawk part # RM-676 are both very nice tow bars with many of the same features. both will work great but from using both Roadmaster and Blue Ox flat towing components I think the Blue Ox setups are a bit easier to use. The great thing about modern cooling systems is that they are extremely efficient. The radiators dissipate heat really well and and the fans pull so much air that even with a transmission cooler out in front of it the vehicle will easily cool well enough. You actually want to install the cooler out in front of the AC condenser as well. Basically it needs to get the air flow first to operate well but the AC and engine will still operate just fine. The Roadmaster Brake Master systems can work on a 2019 Chevy Equinox, but only if the motorhome has air brakes. With hydraulic brakes on your 2000 Rexhall, you will instead want a system that is compatible with both your motorhome and Equinox and adding an air compressor to your motorhome will not allow proper braking function.
