Video Transcript for Review of Flint Hill Goods Wiring - Wire Connectors - 44-5356A

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this 5/16 inch yellow ring terminal for a 12 to 10 gauge size wire. Now the ring terminal here is used for all types of electrical work where wires need fastening to a stud. Usually it connects to the end of a bare wire to give a better electrical connection to that stud. Now this part here is designed to attach a 12 or 10 gauge size wire to a stud size of 5/16 of an inch diameter.

Basically, your bare wire will insert into this brass sleeve portion of the terminal and then it's secured by crimping it into place. The ring terminals, you can see, are color coded using the vinyl insulation sleeve. This one you can see is a yellow color, which means it's designed to fit the 12 gauge to 10 gauge size wire. They also offer them in a blue color, which will fit a 16 to 14 gauge size wire, and a red color, which will fit a 22 to 18 gauge size wire. Basically, the higher the wire gauge number is, the smaller the size of the wire is.

But that should do it for the review on the 5/16 inch yellow ring terminal for the 12 to 10 gauge size wire.

Works as advertised.

Works as described. Spoke with Madison about my order and she was very helpful and addressed all my questions. etrailer has always had what I needed.

by:

The manufacturer of my trailer screwed the grounding wire for the trailer into the tongue of the trailer using a self-tapping screw. That lasted about two months before the wire snapped free. Instead of having that happen again, I used this product by crimping the grounding wire to the but end and then I placed the cotter pin from the trailer coupler through the loop and the wire from that pin makes constant contact with the loop, allowing grounding. Worked like a charm and there's no tension on the grounding wire anymore.

by:

Ordered several things to hook up trailer brake controller on my 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Everything was promptly shipped and at a fair price.
Will use etrailer.com again, if I have the need.

by:

Im all thumbs and was able to totally rewire my trailer in an hour or so. No problems. I am legal again with my lights!! Thanks.

  • Parts Needed to Run 12-Volt Circuit to Install Curt C51180 Echo Brake Controller
Since you already have the # 37185 adapter, all you'll need to do to install the Curt # C51180 Echo wireless is run a 12V circuit from the black wire on the adapter to the positive battery terminal via a 30 amp circuit breaker like # PK54530. You'll need a length of 12 gauge wire long enough to run from the trailer connector, up under the vehicle into the engine compartment and to the battery. We offer 12 gauge wire by the foot as part # 12-1-1. You'll also need 2 small ring terminals...

  • Adapting Different Connectors on 2014 Mercedes GLK250 and Prolite Suite Trailer
Vehicle and trailer connectors come in several varieties, including both 6-way round and 7-way blade types. The linked article on trailer wiring illustrates both, as well as other types. These two types are NOT compatible with each other. Within each type of connector sizes are usually standardized, although the actual wire configuration (what particular signal is carried by any given pin/wire) can vary by brand. My associates and I have not heard of this issue before but certainly a...

  • Ring Terminal Butt Connector Availability
I really wish we did, but the largest ring terminal wire gauges we carry is 10 gauge like the part # 44-5310A for a 3/16 inch ring diameter, # 44-5356A for a 5/16 ring diamter, or a part # DW05705-1 for a 3/8 inner diameter. For an excellent airtight and waterproof sealant for your wiring connections I would recommend the Deka Self-Fusing Auto Tape # DW04367.

Ring terminals are great for connecting wiring to trailer wiring as it makes for an easier and cleaner install. If you need a larger diameter ring terminal than the # DW05702-1 which has a diameter of 1/4 inch we have the # 44-5356A which has a diameter of 5/16 inch.

If you DO already have the # 37185, you'll need a length of # 12-1-1 12 gauge wire (sold by the foot) long enough to reach from the rear of the vehicle to the positive battery terminal, a # PK54530 30 amp circuit breaker, two # 44-5310A ring terminals and one # 44-5356A ring terminal. • Can Powered A-Frame Jack Connect to Trailer Junction Box
With powered a-frame jacks like the Lippert # LC285318 you referenced your best option for powering it is the battery that's mounted on the trailer as that will have the most amperage available. If your junction box runs to the trailer battery then you could run it there for a cleaner install. Or if you wanted to run it to the battery directly you certainly could. For a ring terminal for the junction box the part # 44-5356A would work well.

It includes electric brakes, 4-pole wiring harness with extra wire for the brake circuit, loading ramps and wheel nets that fit tires from 12 up to 16-inches. With a fuse you would have to replace it. The 10-gauge wire is sold in 1 foot increments. There are 2 terminals on the circuit breaker. On GM vehicles of that vintage, the 12-V pin should be hot regardless of whether the ignition is on or not. If it isn't showing voltage even with the ignition on, you're almost certainly on the right track thinking it's a blown or possibly missing fuse. The 12-v feed circuit to the trailer connector is protected by a 40A fuse located in the power distribution box mounted to the inside of the driver's side fender in the engine compartment. Remove the lid and the cover to the box, which...

You can extend the ground and run it to a more convenient spot on the vehicle and you'll want to use a ring terminal like # 44-5356A (similar to the one found on the end of the ground wire of the C57672).
