My '92 GMC Sierra had a 6-pin trailer harness connector and I'm going to be pulling a pop-up camper in a few weeks that has a 7-pin connector. I originally ordered a 47435 6-Pole to 7-Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter. After thinking about it for a day I changed my mind and ordered a HM48470 Hopkins Endurance Multi-tow 7-way, 5 & 4-wire Flat Connector to mount in the bumper and a HM47570 Hopkins Endurance Multi-tow Connect Adapter - 7-way To 6-way, 5-way and 4-way. The HM48470 will allow me to pull the pop-up as well as giving me the 4-wire flat connector that I need for my boat trailer. I bought the HM47570 adapter just to cover all the trailer wiring needs I might run into. I really like the fact that the 47570 adapter has the quick change plug to cover both wiring arrangements for 6-pin trailer connectors.

I placed the original order Saturday evening and the second order Sunday afternoon. Monday morning, I called etrailer.com to try to cancel the first order and was told that both orders were already boxed and on the way the shipper. I had no idea that they had people there to pull and box orders on the weekend. I asked about returning the first order when it arrived and was told by Helen M that it would be no problem at all.

I have been extremely pleased with my purchase experience with etrailer.com. Everyone I spoke with there was very knowledgeable and I will not hesitate to go directly to them for my trailer and towing needs in the future.

I needed an adapter for my electrical towing harness so the that I could use a 5-Way connector on my 7-WAY plug. On line, I found and ordered Item No. HM47570 "HOPKINS ENDURANCE MULTI-TOW CONNECTOR ADAPTER - 7-WAY to 6-WAY, 5-WAY or 4-WAY." When I received the product, I was really stoked, it was exactly what I needed and what I had been looking for! I tried it on for "size" as you might say and it's going to work like a charm. I will send some photos later when I'm done with the installation! No time right now. . this coming weekend! Photo 1&2 my connector; Photo 3&4 the new HM47570; Photo 5,6,&8 the light bar I wanted to install and the completed project. Thanks a bunch!

Works great. I’ve had no issues whatsoe ver!

Just what i needed.

by:

This is the best all in one connector for your 7 way wiring harness. It allows you to use pretty much every connector for personal vehicle trailers.

by:

Item as described. Delivered when promi sed

After a year, the wiring kit is still 100. Have used it several times on both personal and rental trailers

by:

This trailer connection works as advertised. The best thing is the reversible switch apparatus which allows one to go from one type of connection, i.e. 12-volt, to a pole for brakes. It's nifty.

I have used this product several times during the past year of ownership. Works great. Really handy.

by:

This product really is just "plug-and-play". I have a 2012 Chevy Traverse with the strongest towing package available for that vehicle. It comes with a 7 way receiver. I tow a 1998 viking 2490 pop-up camper that came with a standard 4 pin which I rewired to a 6 pin round adapter so that I could add a battery to the trailer and charge it while I was going down the road. It works great! No problems whatsoever. This is actually the second HM47570 that I have owned because I backed the first one into a high snow bank and broke it.

by:

This is truly an all in one hitch plug adapter. I help several neighbors from time to time, pull many varied trailers, on a highly trafficked recreational river. I haven’t found a trailer plug I can’t plug into this adapter. And it’s parts are holding up well after a year. One and done! You’ll need a 7 pin hitch receptacle and then you’re covered for 7 pin, 6, 5 ( yes, the 5 pin), and 4 pin plugs. Bought a couple more for neighbors that had 7 way plugs on their vehicles.

by:

This has to be the coolest adapter I have ever owned. I needed to tow a boat with surge brakes and needed power from the reverse lights to prevent the surge brake from locking up the trailer while backing. I was not sure this would work but thought I would give it a try. It is a little larger than expected and felt like it sagged down a little when plugged into the truck. However, the spring door caught the top of the adapter with no problem. I plugged my 5 flat plug on the trailer and and put it in reverse. worked like a charm. I checked with a multi meter and indeed 12v were sent to the 5th plug on my 5 flat when in reverse. I can now pull three trailers I own with this one adapter. I have a 5 flat, 4 flat and 6 round plug on each of the three trailers. If a purchase a trailer with electric brake, you can pull the plug, turn it 90 degrees and plug it back in. Watch the video etrailer produced describing this outstanding adapter. I will be ordering a second as a backup. Oh....just towed a trailer 250 miles and the adapter was still secure in the truck ever though it sagged a little.

by:

This little unit is a must if you ever rent or borrow a trailer. It'll get you through any trailer connector need. As always, the purchase and shipment from etrailer were awesome.

Thank you for checking in. I am still happy with my purchases - Ive had occasion to use my Hopkins adapter several times. We own two now, and theyve never given us a moments trouble. Great item to have in the console of every potential tow vehicle.

by:

This trailer plug adapter is a "must have" item if you have a truck set up for Hot Shot or if you pull several different types of trailers. I use this adapter at least 3 times a week (plus I have 7 round pin plug for hauling agriculture trailers). I haven't had to use the "trailer break reversal" wire yet, but this is the main reason to purchase this adapter. This is a well built, Great product, well worth the money.

by:

Being a former boat dealer, now a fisherman, and a rancher, I back-up to, and, tow a lot of different stuff. This lets me make sure my hook-up is "legal" with lights!! The ball mount works great with my NEW tow vehicle!! The vehicle is a 3/4 ton, and, comes with a 21/2" to 2" adapter for the factory receiver. The locks & the rest are just niceties in this "steal whatever you need" society?!!

by:

My stock plug has a pretty tight cover that bends the wires on my flat plug for my utility trailer a bit too much for my comfort and this one just flips up and snaps closed, so no tension when it is open. Works very well for my wiring and I have many options for plugs than I had to begin with. I use this all the time and it is great!

by:

As advertised. Well made too. The spring for the cover/seal is robust and I don't expect it to weaken. The adapter works perfectly with my Pollack 7 pin outlet and captures on the retaining clip as both are desiged, so the adapter is securely in place down the road.

The ability to reverse polarity on the 6 pin trailer brake set up is really nice, but I suggest to have a pair of needle nose pliers handy to stuff the wires back in the housing so you can get the two terminal plug re-inserted. A bit to fiddle with, but once you set it up for your own trailer, you never would mess with it again. Good product. You wont be disappointed.

by:

This adapter sold by etrailer.com solved my wiring problem pronto ! My "new" 2012 Buick only had a 7 point RV plug. I needed a 4 pin trailer outlet. Did not want to rewire half the car to get one. Vanessa at etrailer knew immediately what the fix was. Adapter worked as advertised. Problem solved. Great customer service !

works great , use it all the time

by:

This is the adapter that I have been looking for. I was skeptical at first as I deal with vintage utility trailers. These types of trailers have heavy long metal cylinder 6 plug connectors and the fear of keeping them from falling out (along with the adapter is huge. The heavy conductors fit nicely into the adapter. I tie a couple of small ball bungees around everything just to be safe. My only complains is that I wish they were Made in America!

by:

Perfect for trailering my boat (5 flat plug). FINALLY resolved my issue with trailer brakes locking up in reverse. Appears to be well made as I have used it for a year and still works fine.

by:

This thing is a beauty, if you have a 7 pole trailer wiring kit, this is a must have. You will never need another set of adapters because you're covered from 4 pole to 6 pole with the adapter and 7 pole when you remove it. Can't go wrong, great quality and the reverse mode for hot circuit/trailer brakes is a great touch. 10/10

by:

Looks like this is what I need, personnel's expertise helped me determine my needs. Have not tried it, but everything seems to line up and looking forward to the final results.

Great product, works adapter.

I have other Hopkins Multi-tow trailer adapters. I like that this one can operate both 6 way types. Whether it was the brake used or neutral. All you have to do I remove the piece and flip it around. You do not need two adapters.

  • Recommended 6-Pole To 7-Way Trailer Connector For 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty
If you have a 6-pole connector on your 1999 F-250 I recommend using the Hopkins 6-Pole to 7-Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter, part # 47435. You simply plug this into your 6-pole when you want to tow the gooseneck and you have a 7-way connector to use. The 7th pin is likely a reverse light circuit that likely is not used so you should be good to go. If you have a 7-way on your truck and need a 6-pole to tow a trailer then you can use part # HM47570.

  • Brakes on Horse Trailer with 6-Way Lock Up When Connected to the 7-Way on Ford F-250
A 6-Way round pole connector can be wired one of two ways; with the center pole as the 12 volt hot lead, or as the brake. Since the trailer brakes on your horse trailer lock up when plugged into your F-250, it sounds like the 7-way to 6-way adapter that you are using is wired opposite from that of your trailer. This would mean that the center pin on your trailer is the 12V hot lead and the center pin on your adapter is for the brake or vice versa. Either way the brakes are receiving constant...
